It's kinda angsty but it's more just anxiety and it's cute and fluffy so it's a combo!!
Third person pov:
Midoryia sat on the couch in the common room, muttering to himself as he read a book. He felt restless in his room, the night seeming to unproductive to his anxious mind. So he assumed leaving the claustrophobic area was the best option. The only thing lighting his book was the light on in the dining area. It was barely lit, but it was enough. Words mindlessly fell from his lips, the tension in his body alleviating, although he wasn't quite sure where it rooted from anyway.
"Must be a good book," a voice echoed through the quiet common area, causing Midoryia to jump and slam the book shut. "A-ah.. I'm s-sorry. Am I keeping you u-up?" He stuttered nervously. He relaxed at seeing it was just Kirishima. "Don't worry about it bro. You good? It's like, two in the morning..." he trailed off as he spoke. Izuku laughed nervously and nodded. "Yep! I'm good!" He squeaked out. He watched as Kirishima sat on the coffee table in a crisscross position. "What is the book about?" He asked quietly. Midoryia noticed a mug in the redhead's hands and looked at him curiously. "What are you doing up?" Midoryia asked. Kirishima laughed and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "Well, that's a great question...huh. I don't know, if I am being honest. I woke up and was way too awake to even think about falling asleep. So I decided to get me some tea and see if that will help," he laughed out. Midoryia smiled and nodded. "Now, what are you doing up?" He asked, his eyes furrowed with worry as he leaned forward. He seemed to be examining the smaller boy who squirmed under the somewhat intimidating gaze.
"C-couldn't sleep..." he muttered, curling his knees to his chest as he felt his cheeks flush. Why did his stomach feel like it was being tied in a series of knots? "Is there a reason why?" Kirishima pressed, wanting to help his classmate. Midoryia shrugged and sighed. "Sorry for keeping you up, you should go to bed," Midoryia offered with a sad smile. Kirishima frowned and let out a deep breath.
"You're not keeping me up. If I didn't want to be awake, helping you, I wouldn't be here. You can talk to me if you want." Midoryia bit his lip and diverted his eyes to the side of him. "Midoryia, what's going on?" Concern laced the red heads through and the way he said Izuku's name made the boy's heart practically beat out of his chest. Why did he feel so wooed around him? Why did kirishima make him feel the way that he did?
"I- uhm I- it's okay...I'm fine!" Midoryia lied terribly. Kirishima hummed before nodding and smiling. "You look nervous," he said with raised eyebrow. "I- I'm n-not. I'm not nervous!" Izuku practically tripped over his own words. The red head chuckled and shook his head. "You're a nervous wreck!" He exclaimed quietly.
"So imma give you a few options. You talk to me about it, and we figure out how to fix the problem. Or I force you to go to sleep. If I have to lay there and hold you down, I'll do it. We have physical training tomorrow, Midoryia. Rest is important to becoming a hero. It's very manly," he said with a bright, toothy smile. Midoryia blushed brightly at the offers, hiding his face in his hands. Slowly, throughout the conversation, Kirishima had been leaning forward closer towards him and Midoryia hadn't happened to notice until this moment. He felt he might puke from how flustered his stomach felt.
"Th- that's not necessary.." he muttered, hugging his knees tighter to stop the sick feeling in his stomach. "Just was too antsy."
"About what?" Izuku pursed his lips and shrugged. "Just one of those nights," he said with a smile. Kirishima frowned and furrowed his brows. "How often does this happen?" He asked full of concern. "Uhm..." Izuku didn't want to answer. He didn't want to expose himself for being quite an insomniac, but he knew Kirishima would just dig.
"Often. My mind runs way too fast for me to even feel tired," he said with a breathy laugh to try to lighten what he said. "Would it help if you talked about it? Or if you had someone with you?" Kirishima asked. Izuku looked at him with tinted cheeks, but shrugged at the offers. He noticed the slight blush on Kirishima's cheeks and felt his heart race. "Not much to talk about. Just thinking of all the things I could be doing or thinking about what I want to do tomorrow."
