We left after eating since it was time to go, i didn't know how to tell my dad about Challeng-
er. I also felt bad for Junior, he is going to have to stay by himself while moms arguing with
dad. once i got home my friends where calling while i was beginning to pack when i remem-
bered about Junior. I left the call coming up with a lie. I knocked on Juniors door.
"Come in..." he said, his voice raspy. When i saw him my heart hurt, he had red eyes.
"Junior, what happened?" i asked.
"You're leaving me" he said "why?". He looked at me. I began to cry again, looking at me.
"Junior its only for a few months i swear" i hugged him tightly, trying not to cry.
"Promise?" He looked up at me as he sniffled his runny nose and wiped with his palm.
"Promise" I say smiling a bit. he looked at me
"I promise to be good" he promised "Can i have your room?"
"Of course" i replied. He looked at me again and smiled, he then pointed to something in his
Room, a painting he drew of me, him and dad, mom wasnt there.
"I dont like mommy" he said crossing his arms. He was to young to experience this.
"Hey, its okay" i said. I was worried for honestly, i didnt want him to grow up going to thera-
py weekly talking about mom like how i did, "it'll be okay—i'll be back in a flash".
He squeezed me tighter.
"Love you"
"Love you to, brother".

After that, mom came out and began yelling at me due to my flags being in my room
visible, her friends were coming over and she would be embarrassed because her friends
would think i would like them in a romantic way, honestly disgusting. "No" I say as i curl
Up into a ball, knowing the consequences of what I just did, yelling, possibly hitting.
"What!" she yelled, i looked down in regret, "no say it again!" she looked around and Spotted
a sandal, she picked it up.
"No!" i snapped, "NO, i will not hide MY sexuality because you think your friends are pedop-
hiles!".
"Young lady you do not–" she aimed the sandal, it was thick so it was sure to hurt.
"Miranda!" dad yelled just as she was about to throw the shoe, "put down the shoe".
Mom put down the shoe and looked at me. A mad expression, she was sober today.
"you , i hate you, i wish you were never born!" she yelled. That hurt like stones thrown at me.
"Fine, okay, well i don't wanna be here anymore!" I yell, really wanting to be on the mountain
now, "I wish you had a miscarriage while you where pregnant with me!"
"Oh you little brat" mom picked up her shoe and just as she was going to hit me i summoned
Water and splashed her in the face. She groaned.
"How dare you!" she yelled, "is this how you treat your mother?!?".
I cried a bit as she yelled at me, she called me worthless, cocky and said that she wished i was
Not born. I slowly curled into a ball as dad was trying to pull mom away from the door.

"Can you just shut up!" dad yelled repeatedly.
"This rat!" mom yelled.
"Linda! Calm down" dad yelled.
I looked up to mom, her crazy black hair, her brown eyes and freckles. No i thought, this isn't
The same lady who played hide and seek with me at the park, mom—has gone insane.
"Jessica!" dad yelled again. He pushed her outside and slammed my door while locking it.

I Looked around my room then at my pride flag. I didnt cry, i just twirled water in my fingers as a way of fidgeting. Why did mom hate me so much after i came out?
I then felt a presence, i looked up and there stood the water spirit. She looked at me with
her calm face and eyes, she had water for hair, she was blue, had a blue water-like dress
and a crown Made out of seashells
"Hello Avery," she said, in a calm manner, "i see you're stressed, and angry"
"My mom is very homophobic and the mountain is awaiting me" i replied
"You're going to be okay" she reached out her hand "it doesnt matter if Max doesnt take you
I will"
"Wait what?" i took her hand, looking up at her, she was much taller than me.
"He wont be able to take you, i will have to take you in your sleep on the day you planned to go" she replied, "max wouldve taken you to his dads fire lookout" she explained.
She waved her hand and water came out of her fingers creating a blob of water in front of
Me, the blob turned into a picture of a mountain and i realized what it was, "the mountain!"
I looked in awe and then the breaking news started, it looked like the 1930's, no color.
