How am I going to save myself? The ground is getting closer and closer. I can't tell if it's solid ground or water, but either way, this fall is going to kill me-
I woke up Saturday morning gasping for air, I think I need to see a therapist and figure out what these nightmares mean. I look over and see that my mom left a note on my desk saying that she got called into work early. She always leaves me cute handwritten notes, I love that. Plus, she writes in cursive, and it looks like something from an art museum. As I was doing some morning stretches, my phone vibrated, it was a text from Fiona:
Fiona: Hey! :D u survived ur first week at BW High!
Me: Lol yes! We HAVE to celebrate, especially since you're not grounded anymore!
Fiona: My parents knew u and Skye were over. Yikes. I said I was helping u with homework since ur new... which technically isn't a lie. Skye just happened to be there lol.
Me: True. I'm just happy he fixed my car, no more walking for me B)
Fiona: Ooh la la! Do I sense something in the air? Something called "romance????"
Me: Please... he seems great and all, but I'm not easily won over by bright blue eyes and a nice smile.
Fiona: Ah, so u think his smile is nice??? :)
I laughed, it feels nice to have a girl friend again who I can talk to. It's been a while. I looked at my phone for a moment. I know I should ask her about the secrets but I feel like it'd be more of an in-person type of thing. Just then my phone vibrated again.
Fiona: For the record, he's not like this with every girl. I'd let u know if he was.
Me: I believe you lol. We should hang out today, all three of us.
Fiona: I don't know, I kind of had a long list of things to do, and "being a third wheel" isn't on it.
Me: You won't be! It'll be three platonic friends hanging out together.
Fiona: Okay fine! Lol. We can meet up at the park in an hour or two.
Me: Sounds good!
I get up to get ready. Besides the fire incident in Mr. Pierce's class, this week wasn't too hard. Not many people knew that I came from the night school program, and the few that did, didn't care or believe it. I can't say the same for the other kids. Now and then in the hallway, I'd hear "freak" to a few people I've definitely seen fight a teacher or flip a desk.
As far as Skye and Fiona, every now and then it'd look like Skye wanted to share something with me, and then stopped himself from doing so. Today I'm going to ask them what's going on. They don't know me well enough to be planning a surprise birthday party or anything. So what's with the hushed conversations, and stopping mid-sentence to backtrack in the middle of a thought? I need to know now if I'm wasting my time with temporary friends. I don't want to get hurt again.
I threw on some leggings, boots, and a cute olive sweater. My mom helped put my hair in box braids earlier this week which cut a lot of time out of my getting ready routine in the morning. Thank goodness for protective hairstyles. I put my braids in a half-up, half-down do, and threw on a bit of concealer and lip gloss. Just then, there was a tapping outside of my window, it startled me a little to be quite honest. I walked over to my window and looked out. To my surprise, it was Skye throwing pebbles at my window. This boy is something out of a cheesy movie, I swear.
I rush downstairs and he comes running to the front door. I glance at him, he's wearing black jeans, black shoes, and an olive t-shirt. We both look at each other for a long time. He puts his hand to his chin, pondering.
