Just to reiterate some of the details from the original books will be different in this book i.e. how the daughters come into their dad's lives and details on their mothers and pasts. I don't want to make this book an entire repeat of books I've already written.

I will try to keep timeline details as close to fact as possible but some will be tweaked to fit the storyline. Some facts will be based on the film others off the real-life events.

April 1970

"Dinners nearly ready," Jer announces as Freddie rounds the bottom of the stairs.

"Oh I'm not hungry mum," He passes his mum and grabs his jacket off one of the dining room chairs.

"Where are you going?"

He shrugs, "Out with friends."

"A girl?" Jer teases turning to her son, adjusting his jacket and changing the subject, "Is Amelia settled?"

"Yes, mama. She's had a rusk biscuit, her nappy changed and went straight to sleep," He gives Jer the baby monitor.

"Then go have some fun," She encourages, going out with friends is something she can't scold him for. He works most of the day and makes sure his daughter is cared for first and that's all Jer can ask of her son.

"Thank you, mama," He kisses her cheek, "I won't be too late," He heads to the front door as his father comes home from work.

"Hi Papa," Kash, Freddie's younger sister greets her father from the sofa, "How was work?"

Bomi only smiles at his daughter but looks at his son, "Out again Farrokh?"

"It's Freddie now papa," He corrects him ignoring his question.

"Freddie or Farrokh," Bomi removes his coat, "What difference does it make when you're out every night with no thought of the future, of Amelia's future? Good thoughts, good words, good deeds that is what you should aspire to. You have a daughter now, she is your priority, take care of her first."

"I do papa. When I'm not working I spend as much time as I can with her but she's been fed, nappy changed and gone straight to sleep. I have looked after her first, I hope one day to find somebody to love and hopefully to give Amelia the mother she deserves but I'll never meet anyone if I only stay at home or go to work," He slips past his father and heads to the pub.

Amelia has only been in Freddie's life since February after she was removed from her mother's care due to child neglect. He had no idea of her existence until social services contacted him following the removal, but in the two months she's been in his care, she's become his world and he'd do anything for her. It was her 1st birthday last week on the 4th of April and he spoilt her as much as he could afford to.

Freddie arrived at the college pub just in time to hear the live band start, Smile. He's been following the band for a while now and enjoys their music. Grabbing a drink he leans against the bar listening and sipping his drink.

When the band finishes their set, he decides to go and find them. Wondering through the halls trying to find the band he spots a blonde-haired young woman talking to her friend. She catches his eye but he continues walking past the pair until she notices him staring, "You alright?"

"I was just looking for the band," He stutters blushing.

"They're usually out back," She answers him.

He nods heading to the back door but stops turning back to her briefly, "I like your coat," He walks off after her friend shouts telling him she got it from where she works.
