The week before the spring dance...

Me and Raydon grew pretty close, mainly because he was to chicken to talk to Melon, but he clung pretty good to me, we started dating and now we're a week away from the spring dance, he plans on taking me so, yeah!

"So, Kaitlyn, has he asked you to the dance yet?" Melissa asked.

"Duh!" I say and smack my forehead.

"You got a back up plan in case yall, y'know... break up?"

"As if I got my eye on someone else." I roll my eyes.

One of the bathroom stalls open, seeing as we were talking in the bathroom, and Four walks out.

"What're yall talking about?"

"Spring dance! Are you going?" Melissa asks her.

"With who?" She says holding back a laugh.

"I mean you don't have to go with a guy or well really anyone, I mean you can go alone like Melissa." I suggest.

"Not going alone, nor do I have friends here."

"I mean, we don't mind being your friend! I don't think Melissa would mind having a dance partner." I say. Melon elbows me in the ribs and I hold my ribs in pain.

"Yall don't have to, I'm not the best or most reliable person." She shrugs. "I have a brother but y'know we don't really hang out all that often."

After that the bell rang and we all scrambled off to our classes. Just as I was about to go into class my phone buzzed in my pocket.

Raydon: I have something to tell u after school

Kaitlyn: See u after school, here at?

Raydon: Bleachers

Kaitlyn: WHERE'S THE RUM!!!

Kaitlyn: shoot sorry, I meant 'K' dang auto correct

I put my phone back into my pocket and take a seat in class. My mind worried about what he wanted to tell me.

Does he want my first kiss?

Is he going to break up with me?

Is he going to propose?

Nope definitely not that latter.

I walk across the soccer field to the bleachers. I sat down and waited for him to come. He walked up next to me and took in a shakey breath.

"Hey, Kaitlyn."

"Hey Raydon, what'd you wanna tell me?"

"I uh... I erm uh..." He pauses from stuttering to take in a breath. "I'm sorry for... this, I never should've started dating you for you being comfortable. I thought you were what I wanted but in reality I still look at Melissa the same, still feel the same about her, I'm sorry for ever asking you out. I never should've even tried this, so I'm sorry, Kaitlyn." I felt a warm tear trickle down cheek. Go figure. He was to chicken to talk to Melissa so he got close to me. I figured he might've wanted me because he got to know me but with my luck that wouldn't be the case.

"Yeah, whatever just... I'm going home, thanks for making me miss the bus." I turn around to walk home when he grabs my shoulder.

"Could we still be friends?" He said cupping my face.

I laughed like a maniac. "Not yet." I growl. I'm  mad at him for even asking me out in the first place when he knew he liked my bestfriend. At least he broke it off before going and getting with my bestfriend.

I pulled away from him and go back to walking home. I subtly glance over my shoulder only to see an empty soccer field. I hope JV enjoys running over the shattered piece's of my broken heart.
