Hayden woke up the next day with a heavy head. He was not ready to get out of bed yet. But his alarm was ringing in an awfully loud voice and he had to go to work. He could only hope Lana had made the right excuse to just let him off the hook.
Pulling himself to his feet with much effort, Hayden lazily dragged his feet around the room, getting ready for work.
The shower was long and he spent half of it, thinking about random stuff.
He made himself a quick sandwich with the little stuff he got in his fridge and sat on a chair, silently devouring his breakfast. He heaved yet another sigh and checked the time. Seeing that he was already two minutes late, he hurriedly put on his shoes and coat. He grabbed his hat and swung his bag around his shoulder. He rushed out of the front door, but stopped when he saw his neighbour standing on the other side with his body leaned onto the door frame.
"Hello, Mr..." The guy spoke and raised his eyebrows.
After a moment of watching him in confusion and surprise, Hayden filled in. "Orwell. Hayden Orwell"
"Hm. Mr. Orwell. I couldn't thank you properly last night. I was kind of... In a mess and a little drunk" he pursed his lips and his face was filled with guilt and embarrassment. "And I would like to apologize if I caused you any trouble". A sigh escaped his lips.
"It was no big deal, really" Hayden said with a smile, trying his very best, not to pay attention to the intensely smokey and mysterious eyes that were drilling into his.
"Hm. You seem to be in a hurry. But, would you like to join me for lunch later, so that I'd feel atleast a little better for putting you through all that trouble?" The other guy offered, his eyes gazing at Hayden expectantly.
Hayden wondered if his mind was messing with him. He felt as if it would be a little too inconvenient for the gentleman in front of him, but he felt it would be rude to turn him down. Even before he could process the words that piled up in his throat, they slipped through his lips in a slight stammer "Y-yeah, sure. I'd like that" he smiled, not even knowing what he was actually smiling for.
The guy's face lit up and he grinned from ear to ear. "Alright! How about we meet at the restaurant opposite The Rivervale Tribune? That place seems quiet and peaceful"
"Yeah sure"
"See you then. Oh, I'm William, by the way. William Wolfgang" he nodded to himself with a smile and stepped inside his apartment. Sparing Hayden one last glance, he closed the door.
Hayden was quite awe struck by the way William's appearance seemed to be completely different from what he had seen the last night.
He was no more the wreck he was. His hair was neatly slicked back, the bangs nomore hanging over his forehead covering those beautiful blue eyes. His outfit matched the look of elegancy on his face. He held a demeanour of high status and Hayden genuinely felt respect for him.
He wondered who he could be. Maybe he should ask Lana to help him look up the guy.
Speaking of which...
Hayden suddenly remembered he was running late for work and rushed through the hallways and down the stairs, too impatient to stand in an elevator. He ran out of the entrance of the apartment, calling out for a taxi as he cursed his very life under his breathe.
