After unpacking Cleo decided to go for a walk.
Having decided to call in at the dojo too see everyone she started walking towards the large wooden building when a familiar voice called out behind her.
"No way, is that my kitten?"
Cleo heard footsteps running towards her and just as she turned around Pup flung his arms around her.
"Well would you look at you all grown up. Loving the outfit by the way, god I've missed you. Can you believe it's been eighteen months?"
When he finally paused to take a breath and let go of her she smiled at him.
"I've missed you too Pup."
He smiled and grabbed her hand, that's when she noticed that Jax was with him and he was stood there just staring at her.
"Hey Jax, long time no see." she said nonchalantly.
He stood there in silence for a few minutes.
"Wow, I mean hi, you look well."
Cleo smiled at him stifling a laugh, Pup dragged them both back to the house then and decided they needed to have a party to celebrate all of them being together again. After several hours and many, many drinks Pup and Charlie both passed out drunk, so Cleo went outside for some air, she hadn't noticed Jax following her.
"Hey, so look I'm sorry I didn't recognize you, it's just, well look at you, you've grown up nicely and look so different."
He was struggling to get his words out and it wasn't because he was drunk as he had barely touched his drink.
"Don't worry about it; to be honest I didn't quite recognize you either, so I guess we're even."
they both laughed and sat talking about nothing for a while.
The next morning the three men left to go to the dojo and Cleo made her way to the shrine to see the elder.
As soon as she got there cleo was given a list of assassination targets, she was to resume her duties that night.
So, life went back to normal, well almost normal, one thing changed.
Cleo had retired to bed early one evening having been given a rare night off, when she heard voices in the garden, carefully she looked out of the window to see Charlie, Pup and Jax sat on the veranda drinking.
Cleo decided to watch them for a while, eavesdropping on their conversation.
"Who would have thought it? That little girl who used to follow you about Jax, now a beautiful young woman" Charlie spoke softly.
"Yeah you'll have to set about finding her a good husband soon Charlie before she ends up falling for a ruffian like us."
Jax laughed but cleo could hear sadness in his words.
"Hey, remember how she was madly in love with him Charlie? Maybe if he hadn't broken her heart we could marry her off to him."
Pup fell off the veranda he was laughing so much at his own words, Jax however just sat there deep in thought, then he looked in the direction of cleo's room and before she had chance to hide their eyes met.
His beautiful emerald green eyes set delicately in their sockets and together with his shoulder-length straight jet-black hair that framed his wild face and chiseled jaw made her heart skip.
The sight of him in the moonlight and the slight smile he gave her sending her heart beating into overdrive, she quickly moved away from the window before the others saw her and went to bed.
