Book 4: Independence

Johntavionquavious was sneaking through the bushes, taking great care not to be seen or heard.

He didn't dare attempt to sprint away from the flowery clearing that the other cats were in. His tortoiseshell fur partially glimmered in the dawn light, making him scramble into a more shadowy area to avoid being seen.

He risked a glance over his shoulder to check for anycat following him. Sure enough, there were none, so he continued walking.

Finally, the tall trees around him gave way to yellow-pink-blue skies, and wavy, tall grass the color of gold ingots. Sure enough, there was a pond smack-dab in the middle of the clearing, indicating that he was in Goofyclan territory.

Johntavionquavious took a few steps in, only to catch a glimpse of multiple shapes slithering out of the grass, circling him, hissing softly. Therefore, making him feel like his heart leaped out of his chest.

Oh shit, I've been caught!

"Excuse me, sir, *snort* what are you doing on Goofyclan territory?" one of the cats growled.

"I need to see Clementine, it's important," Johntavionquavious responded.

"Clementine is no longer Clementine, she is now Goofystar, thank you very much, and we will be happy to take you to her-"

"Hold on!" one other cat interrupted. "Acktually, *snort* We don't know anything about this cat! He could be a murderer, for all I know."

"No, Jimmy Neutron. This is Johntavionquavious, the friend of Goofystar's sister.'' The random cat turned towards him. "Johntavionquavious, you'll always be welcome into Goofyclan. We shall lead you to Clement- I mean Goofystar."

The patrol led Johntavionquavious to the Goofyclan camp. And sure enough, Goofystar was grooming herself underneath a fallen tree.

Must be the leader's den... He thought.

Jimmy Neutron snorts, then says; "Goofystar, we have a visitor!"

Johntavionquavious walks up to Goofystar. "Goofystar." he begins. "Your sister, Copper, has sent me here to check on you. And I can see-"

"Wait." Goofystar interrupted. "She sent you here?"

Before Johntavionquavious could say anything more, she continued. "Understandable. Tell her that I'm alive and well."

He (Johntavionquavious) turned to leave.

"Hold on, Johntavion, can you stay here a little longer?" Goofystar asked.

Johntavionquavious turned back to her, confused. Why would you want me to?

"Okay. Why?"

"Do you know where Flashlight, Thomas, and John are?"

Johntavionquavious froze. What???????????????

"No, I don't." he lied.

"Don't be ridiculous," Goofystar responded. "Jimmy Neutron reported to us that he saw you running towards them while they were sneaking off. Tell me."

"I-" Johntavionquavious stammered. "I- um.."

Shit.

Goofystar smirked. "Tell me or I'll flay your ass alive." she unsheathed her claws, trying to intimidate Johntavionquavious.

He felt a flame of fear rise in him at the death threat. Before he could resist, all the words came rushing out.

"I-they're in the forest on the right side of Goofyclan territory. They are located in a field filled with purple flowers. How do I know? Because I followed them." he quickly snapped his jaws shut.
