The New Guy

Ch.6

I wake up to the sounds of my usual alarm and an empty bed. I was starting to get used to going to bed with Tommy and waking up without him. I struggle out of bed to the bathroom to wash my deep conditioner out and do my usual hygiene routine. Since I'm rocking my natural hair for the next couple of days I pull my hair up in a cute half up half half-down hairstyle.

For clothes today I throw on a pair of cargo pants and a cute graphic tee. I slip on my black forces to match and start accessorizing. As I'm looking myself over in the mirror there's a knock on my door. I definitely wasn't expecting anyone over since I'm on my way to work.

I step up on my tippy toes to peek out the peephole, my heart drops seeing who's standing on the other side. I open the door angry and confused as to why Genesis is here right now.

"Can I help you?" I ask

"Hey sis," she says

"I ain't your sis," I say making air quotes around the word sister.

"Celestial can I come in? I need to talk to you." She says seriously.

"Nah we're good right here," I say crossing my arms ready to talk about whatever.

"Fine," she says sighing loudly

"I'm pregnant," she says nonchalantly

"Pre-" I started to say before I got a queasy feeling in my stomach.

"I'm 8 weeks," she says smiling handing me an ultrasound.

I grab it hesitantly. I stare at the little bean in the picture that says, Baby. My heart is beating out of my chest, my stomach is making noises and my brain is all confused.

"Eight weeks," I ask slowly

"Yeah, but that's not all."

"Is it Vic's?" I ask hesitantly

Genesis doesn't say anything only slowly nods her head. I slam the door in her face running to the bathroom and throwing up. I sat there for a minute trying to wrap my head around the news but I couldn't stomach it.

The walk to the bar was by far the longest walk. I was so in my thoughts I didn't notice Tommy walking next to me.

"When did you get here" I say unlocking the bar door.

"Like ten minutes ago. I figured something was wrong when you walked past me." He says holding the door open for me.

"Yeah, Genesis is pregnant," I say setting my purse down on the bar

"No way it could be Vic's," he says laughing. I turned giving him a look and he knew then it was definitely Vic's

"I'm sorry babe," Tommy says hugging me tightly.

"I don't care. I just hope they're ready for that type of responsibility."

"Speaking of responsibility. Where's ole girl." He asks referring to Shorty

"She's closing tonight. So whatever you're trying to do has to wait till 7 tonight when I'm off." I say starting to open the bar up

"Okay okay. Sorry, I wasn't there when you woke up. I had business with Lilliana."

"Don't apologize I'm used to it" I say fake smiling

"What that mean"

"It means I'm used to you going to bed with me and not being there when I wake up"

"Okay, it won't happen again. I promise" he says grabbing my hand. I roll my eyes not fully believing his promise

"I always keep my promises," he says kissing me lightly
