As Eiran approached Felix and Lola, he caught a glimpse of Captain Josephine walking away. The back of her dress was exposed, revealing three large scratches across her back. What happened to have those? Did she get them when Raellyn was still alive? Eiran found himself lost in thought and Felix and Lola noticed too.
"You alive Eiran?" Lola asks, waving a hand in his face. "Ya. Have you two also noticed Captain Josephine's scars?" He asked, still not taking his eyes away from her. Felix and Lola turned to see what he had but they looked at him confused. "Eiran, how do you see any scars? She's turned the other way." Felix stated, stepping in front of him.
Eiran finally looked away from her, taking in what he said. "Wait what? No, I can see she has three large scratches on her back. They look like they came from a large animal. You can't say you can't see them. The back of her dress is low enough to show them." He stated, looking between them. They were staring like he had just said that pigs could fly or that unicorns were real.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" He asked, not moving. "Are you okay? Did you eat something funny?" Lola questioned, concerned. "No. Why?" He continued, still confused. He knew what he saw. "Eiran, her dress covers her full back. We can't see any large scars aside from the one on her shoulder." Felix replied, looking to Lola, almost like he was asking for help.
What?
"Must have just been seeing things then." Eiran let it go and gave them a smile. "Okay then. Well, we're going to get something to eat from the kitchen. Wanna come with us?" Felix asked, looking to Lola."Sure, I could use a bite to eat. Besides, I have a lot of eating to catch up on since I didn't get a decent meal for a month before we got to Felix's." He stated casually, as if it was normal to just go a whole month surviving off of water and a piece of bread a day.
Felix gave him an odd look then turned to Lola. "Ya, we really need to work on feeding prisoners better apparently." She said, scratching the back of her head.
"Sure do." Felix gave her an icy stare then returned to Eiran. "Anyways, I've already been there. My room is right next to it. They have some awesome food her I'm talking fancy food." He exclaimed excitedly.
Felix quickly showed both Eiran and Lola the way to the large kitchen. They stepped through big, swinging doors to find a giant room. Well, at least it was giant in Eiran's eyes. Lola didn't even seem to be impressed, even by the food.
Eiran had almost forgotten that Lola was raised in a castle, most likely surrounded by foods much better than even this. What he would give for something like that. Maybe if he had grown up like her, he would still have his parents but at what cost? If he had his parents right now, he wouldn't have met Captain Josephine or Felix or Lola.
Eiran thought of a life like than and quickly decided it wasn't what he wanted. Now that he knew both Felix and Lola, even captain Josephine, he would lay down his life for them.
"Eiran, would you rather have some random old stew an old man made once or one of my mom's recipes? You've tried the food she has made. You know it's good." Felix questioned, glaring at Lola.
Eiran hadn't realized but Felix and Lola had spend the past five minutes arguing over what to make.
"It's not some random old man that made it! He is the best chef in the kingdom!" Lola exclaimed, throwing her hands in the the air. "According to your father. He is not the best chef. That title would have to go to my mom." Felix stated very matter-a-factly.
"Eiran." Lola glared holes through him. "Who's dish do you think we should try?" She asked with a smile that only a maniac would wear. "Eiran please. You know how good my mom's food is. We could make some together." Felix argued with a gentler expression.
"Why don't you both make your own dishes on either side of the kitchen and I can go back and forth on helping? Sound good?" Eiran suggested, a small smile on his face. Felix and Lola both looked at each other then at Eiran nodding their heads.
Eiran let out a sign of relief. The last thing he needed was Felix and Lola to get into a fight. Especially over some stupid dish.
The two quickly started and just as promised, Eiran swapped between every few minutes or just when one needed him. Eventually, the two got done and Eiran was sat down in a chair with both in front of him.
"Now try both and let's see who's is better." Lola said, still glaring at Eiran. If he was completely honest with himself, Eiran really was scared of Lola when she was mad. "O-Okay." He managed to stutter out. "Okay then." Felix seemed.very confident that his would win and honestly, so was Eiran. Eiran quickly found out when he was at Felix's that his mom's recipes that she left were the best things he had tasted since his mom passed.
Eiran slowly picked up the spoon to the soup that Lola had made and tasted it. It was quite frankly not the best thing he had tasted. It was good but nothing life-changing.
Eiran disregarded the soup and quickly dug into Felix's dish. He had made delicious looking steak and mashed potatoes. Eiran tried it and as expected, it was one of the most delicious things he had out in his mouth.
"I'm sorry Lola but you have to try this it's so good!" Eiran was barely able to say through chewing. Lola picked up some with her fork and tried it. "Oh my God. Yup. You win." She said, barely audible.
After that Felix tried hers and they all came to an agreement that Felix was, in fact, the winner. They all laughed over it and then the other two helped Felix make it for everyone else on the ship. That was one of Eiran's favorite memories there.
