Eiran didn't know it at the time but he would spend many hours of his life looking at that dagger. Even when he was older, that dagger was a reminder for him too. That he was the Shadow, whether he liked it or not.
He put the dagger in its sheath and stored it away in his small bag. "Thank you. I'll be sure to take care of it." He said quickly, turning to walk out the door.
"Eiran." Captain Josephine called out to him. He stopped, not bothering to turn to face her. "Don't be like her. Don't die before life gets good. And don't be like me either. Don't take the important things for granted before they are gone."She stated, looking to the back of his head.
"I'll be sure to take that to heart." Eiran responded, finally walking out the door. He had no idea he would need this advice the most out of all the advice Captain Josephine gave him.
He quickly made his way to Felix and Lola, who were busy talking about something. When Lola saw him, she quickly ran to him, followed closely by Felix. "Eiran, I found out where we are going."She stated happily. "We're going to the Amethyst Caves. It's supposed to help you channel your powers. Then we head to the president. If this goes well, we'll finally be ready to overthrow him." Felix finished Lola's thought for her.
"As far as we know. Captain Josephine could also have something else in store for us."Eiran explained. He was right. Captain Josephine had her own plan and she only told them bits and pieces when she needed them to know. That's just what she does.
Felix, Lola, and Eiran spent the rest of that day brainstorming different adventures that could be in store for them on this wild trip. "I say we awaken the sea giants." Felix said jokingly. "Well, I say we're probably going to find some lost artifact to help us."Lola added.
Eiran gave Felix a weird look. "What are the sea giants?"He asked, getting an equally confused look from the other two. "I swear you know nothing Eiran. Isn't the Shadow supposed to be all-knowing?"Lola joked.
"So I'm just supposed to know everything?", "Not everything but I mean when it comes to things like magic and history, you should definitely know that. I mean for gods sake Eiran this is common knowledge!"Lola continued to laugh at Eiran.
"I hate to agree with her, but she is 100% right. This is common knowledge Eiran."Felix responded, smiling. "Okay. If you two are so smart, tell me."Eiran replied, visibly annoyed.
"The sea giants are kind of a legend. No one knows if they are real or not but most believe they are there. Many say the walked the Earth at one time, then when the first Shadow died, they fell to the Earth, causing the oceans. Most say the Shadow was their life source, their creator. When he died, they fell asleep until the next Shadow came to wake them again."Felix explained.
"If the Shadow was the only thing needed to wake them again, why haven't they been woken in the past few hundred years?"Eiran asked. "Well, they had no purpose. The Shadow is the world's fail safe. In case a great power is needed to defeat a great evil in the world. The giants were there to help the Shadow if it was needed. They weren't needed, so they haven't been woken."Felix stated, clearing things up for Eiran.
"But we do need them now, so it's likely we'll have to wake them. If they are even real that is. No one has ever seen them. Most seem to think they sleep in the deepest trenches of the ocean. But who knows?"Lola stated slightly jokingly.
"Yeah. Who knows?"Eiran chuckled but in all reality he was extremely nervous. What if he couldn't do this? What if he couldn't wake the giants? What if he couldn't get in contact with the other Shadows? What if he wasn't ready for this at all?

It took three more days to reach the Amethyst Caves, but it was worth it, at least for Eiran. Days of stressing over whether he'd be able to do what needed to be done had finally come to an end.
The ship made an abrupt stop, and Eiran made his way up to the ship's deck where everyone was waiting for him. The sun shines in his eyes, blinding him for a second, then a few familiar faces came into view. Captain Josephine, Lola, Felix, and the rest of the crew were waiting.
"You coming slow poke?"Josephine called out for him, as two men he didn't quite recognize laid down the large ramp they entered the ship on. Lola was standing with Josephine, but Felix was no where to be seen.
"Wait wait, I'm coming! I needed to get something from my room."Felix came out from under the small hatch on the floor, nearly tripping. "Are we ready to go then?" Lola asked, crossing her arms.
"Okay okay, Mrs. Grumpy pants."Eiran mocked her. Felix, Eiran, and Captain Josephine laughed at Lola's not-so-happy pout. "Ralph! Your're in charge of the ship while I'm gone. Okay?"Josephine called out to Ralph, stuck out clearly in the crowd with his height.
"Yes ma'am!"He shouted, saluting her and standing a little taller. Ralph had become a good friend of all three of them, seeing as he was easy to get along with and was funny. "Bye, Ralph! Don't burn the ship down while we're gone!"Lola called out, waving to him. "No promises."He said quietly but was still heard.
The four of them waved everyone good-bye and made their way down the ramp. There they were. They were really starting this crazy journey. Eiran was really going to save the entirety of the human face from the president. Not yet, but eventually. He first had to get through whatever was waiting for him on this island. Or more like who was waiting for him.
