Chapter 10:
The crisp fall air breezed across my face as I walked out of Gladrags.
I immediately began berating myself.
How could I have just upped and said so much to him about my personal life? You've known him for all of two minutes Ginny-- what the heck are you doing?
I specifically told myself that I would not bring up family at school. I wanted to be seen as a mostly normal student. Not someone to be pitied. Look at me now. Pathetic.
I stayed quiet as we started to make our way through the town square when suddenly, the ground began to shake.
An earthquake?
The shaking became more violent a loud when a roar came from behind one of the village homes and a ginormous troll lumbered into the town square.
It looked like a walking mountain, the color of stone with moss patches covering portions of its skin. Its feet were chunky with hideous toes and its four fingers were just as disgusting. It carried a club that was embellished with goblin metal that gave it sharp edges around its widest sections. What was truly terrifying about this troll was the armor it wore. A breastplate, pouldrons -- or shoulder covers, and vambraces all swirled with a red glow.
No.
No no no no.
This troll was sent here for me.
Just like the dragon was sent for my carriage.
All of them sent by Ranrok.
As it began to head in our direction, Ruth Singer, an officer in Hogsmeade, came running out into the square, thrashing the troll with a loud, "BOMBARDA!". The angry behemoth turned around and began to follow her and a few other town residents. As they were running, she instructed the others, "LEAD IT OUT OF TOWN!" Moments later, they were gone.
Thank goodness. That was a little too close for comfort.
Sebastian and I looked at each other-- shocked by what we had just seen-- but before either of us could say a word, a second troll came crashing through a building with a wild and possessed look in its eye. It too wore armor with the same terrifying red glow I had recognized from the dragon attack and the previous troll.
Another one?! Two trolls sent to one of the most populated towns in the area?!
It came charging in our direction and I tumbled out of the way just before it had a chance to pulverize me.
Sebastian had dodged its charge and was already casting spells in its direction as I stood back up.
"CONFRINGO!"
"LEVIOSO!"
"BOMBARDA!"
I began to send basic casts spewing in its direction. Sebastian saw me and screamed, "GINNY! RUN!" The look in his eye was equal parts fury and terror. He wanted me to run so he could continue this fight alone.
Did this lunatic really think he could take on a troll all on his own?!
"And leave you to become this monstrosity's toothpick?! NOT. A. CHANCE.."
We frantically threw cast after cast for ages but were unsure if we were actually doing any damage. Suddenly, I was overcome with a feeling that I can best explain as my wand taking control of me. Spinning around I pulled objects in from the immediate area and sent them hurtling at the troll. It went tumbling backward.
