Marshal was fidgeting with his fingers out of excitement.
"I can't believe we are in the same class!" He told his best friend, Chase. The two of them had cooking in room 103C.
"Yeah I'm excited too, well, I would be more if it wasn't cooking, remember middle school." Chase groaned through a stupid looking smile.
Marshal thought back as the two were kids, they had one class where a chef came in and they got to cook, but as they were, Chase was asked to get the oil, and instead of getting the vegetable oil, he opened the wrong cabinet, and grabbed gasoline, it was there for one of the old barbecues but the storage closet was getting renovated so they hid it here, long story short, those pancakes were burnt and inedible to the boys disappointment, Chase especially remembered it as he was in a group with a weird kid he didn't know from class, later on him and that kid became friends and now him and Marshal share cooking classes.
"That wasn't your fault, the teacher should of checked, or they shouldn't of put gasoline in children's reach, and plus, that was middle school, we've got one last year after this one to graduate, I think you can handle a simple oven now." Marshal laughed, but it didn't lighten Chase fears. His fears of looking dumb and everyone realizing he's still the same small boy he once was. "Now calm down worry wort and let's go!" Marshal said, grabbing Chase's hand and walking away.
The two walked in to see three people from their math class. There was Rocky, Skye, and to Marshals instant joy, Everest.
"Not you!" Everest mouthed in a rival way, both Everest and Marshal hated each other, but also platonically liked each other. They found the other to be charming, and were more then happy that this rivalry pushed them to be better (and loved one-ing up the other).
Chase saw that Everest was in this class and instantly knew that he wouldn't match up, they'd get ahead of themselves and either burn the place down, or make even Gordan Ramsay shed a tear, whichever came first. Chase just sighed in defeat as the two picked the seat right behind the prementioned three.
"Oh Ho ho no, you are going down Marshal!" Everest whispered loud enough for all five to hear her, Rocky just pointed and gave a confused look to Skye, and in return, Skye just shrugged, even knowing the story, she was just as confused.
"But Everest, didn't you say you were bad at cooking?" Skye asked, to which Everest put a hand to her lips, signalizing her to hush up.
"Can't believe I'm here instead of physics." Rocky groaned, the reason was the head teacher was sick last minute and they couldn't find a replacement, so they sent everyone to PE, except Rocky because of his recent leg surgery, he unfortunately wouldn't be able to use this reason on Friday, the day he has double PE, since the doctors note only excused 'til Thursday, but by then he'll be back to his regular scheduled classes.
"Well at least now we won't have to split 'til lunch." Skye smiled.
"Fair point" Rocky retorted.
"I think you'll be the one going down EverLAST!" Marshal said pushing forward on him and Chase table, despite that being one of the weakest insults Marshal could of thought of, it riled up Everest.
"So uhm...hi" Chase said, seeing how the others on Everest side were in a similar situation.
"Hello? May we help you?" Rocky said, a little annoyed. It made what small talk Chase was trying to make all the more awkward.
Skye lightly punched his shoulder.
"Oh I. I was just wondering...how was winter break?" Chase said awkwardly.
