CHAPTER TWO

Vince finally arrived home. Two hours later than he said he would ... He unloaded the TWO grocery bags he had come home with in their small kitchen. Emma quietly sneaked out of her room and creeped up to the kitchen. She stood there for a few moments, just silently watching him, staring him down.

Vince soon noticed this weird behavior and spoke up. "Can I... Help you?..."

"Is there anything you want to tell me?" She calmly asked.

Vince stopped and thought for a moment. He genuinely didn't remember what she was talking about.

"Uh..." He laughs nervously. "No? I don't think so?"

"You gave our address to some random brits from a bar?!" She shouted.

"OH..."

"Are you stupid?! They could murder us. You know how those brits are..." Emma shook her head and paced around the room, clearly stressed out.

"Stop tweaking bruh." He interjected. "I didn't think it would be that big of a deal! Their friend thought you were cute!" Vince pleaded.

Emma sighed and sat down at their small dining table. She held her head with her hands, and quietly murmured to herself.

Vince saw his friend clearly going through something and he decided he needed to help.

"Emma..." He put a hand on her shoulder. "It's been 3 years since you got divorced..."

Emma looked up to her friend with tearful eyes.

"You've gone on ZERO dates since then!" Vince stated. "You need to get out there again!"

Emma didn't say anything in reply and quietly thought to herself for a moment. She stood up and headed to her room.

Emma dramatically turned back to face Vince as she got to her bedroom door. She slowly turned his head at him and quietly stated, "I'll sleep on it..."

Vince slowly nodded with worry.
It was a sleepless night for Emma. There was tossing and turning. There was doom scrolling on Tiktok. It wasn't till 3am when she fell asleep. At 12pm she awoke to her friend shaking her.

"Emma!" Vince continued to annoyingly shake her. "I made pancakes. Hurry up."

He left the room and Emma slowly but surely arose from her slumber. She rubbed her eyes and got quickly dressed for the day. When she went to the kitchen, her food was already waiting for her.

"Thanks gang." She said,

Vince just nodded and then cautiously said, "So..." He paused, "Have you thought about your date?..."

"Yeah.. I-I.... I think I'll go..." She quietly ate her pancakes.

Vince jumped in the air with joy. "Let's freaking go!!!"

Emma texts Geordie later that day.

"Hey... I think I'll take up your friend's offer."

Gerodie quickly responded, "GREAT :3"
