Author's POV

War stirred from his slumber, the gentle voice of Win cutting through the quiet. "Hey, it's time for dinner."

Blinking away the remnants of sleep, War realized he had slept through the afternoon and into the night.

He followed Win downstairs, where the dining table was set, bathed in warm light.

Bright and Win shared concerned glances as War took a seat.

"How are you feeling?" Win inquired, genuine worry etched on his face.

War managed a small smile, "I'm okay, just a bit tired. Tomorrow I'll be going back to my place"

Bright chimed in, "You know, War, you're welcome to stay with us longer. You don't have to face everything alone."

Win nodded in agreement, "We're here for you."

War appreciated their concern, but he couldn't shake the looming uncertainty.

"I appreciate it, but I think it's time for me to go back to my place. I need some time to figure things out."

Bright and Win exchanged understanding glances, accepting War's decision.

"Just remember, you have a home here whenever you need it," Win reassured.

War thanked them sincerely, sensing a comforting warmth in their support.

As they shared a meal together, the camaraderie provided a brief respite from the complexities that awaited him outside this haven.

After dinner, War retreated to his room to prepare for going back home the next day since it's Saturday.

The weight of the unresolved situation with Yin hung heavy in the air, but the solace of Bright and Win's companionship offered a glimmer of comfort.

....

As War settled into the comfort of his bed, a soft chime broke the silence.

He answered, offering a warm greeting.

"Hey, War! I hope you're feeling better," Cindy's voice resonated through the phone.

"Yeah, I'm getting there. What's wrong?" War responded

Cindy paused before diving into the purpose of her call, "I just wanted to remind you about the company gala tomorrow."

War's brow furrowed in confusion. "Company gala? I didn't hear about that."

Cindy chuckled, "Did you miss checking your emails, War?"

A sheepish smile formed on War's face as he admitted, "Yeah, I've been a bit distracted lately. Haven't really kept up with my inbox."

"Well, you might want to take a look. The gala is at the Wong mansion hall tomorrow at 8 pm. It's a black and white theme, so make sure to dress accordingly," Cindy explained.

War sighed, realizing he might have overlooked something important. "Is it a must for me to attend?"

Cindy's response carried a teasing undertone, "Absolutely! You know how these events are, especially when it comes to the president's assistants."

War chuckled, "Alright, thanks for the heads up, Cindy. I'll check the details in the email."

"Great! You better show up looking sharp. Get well soon!" Cindy added before they exchanged goodbyes, leaving War to contemplate the unexpected gala that now awaited him.
