Emily woke up to the sound of something in her closet. She closed her eyes and tried to ignore it, but after a few minutes gave up.
"Lady, get out." She mumbled sleepily, opening the door but found nothing in there except her clothes and whale float. She walked back to the bed and closed her eyes only to be woken up again a few minutes later by the sound of a door opening. She she sat up to see her closet door open and her whale on the floor a few feet away.
Ok...this is normal. She thought, laying back down, but kept one eye open, she felt like someone else was in here.
After a few minutes her whale float began to make its way towards the door to her room as if it was alive.
She quietly got up, grabbed a baseball bat that was conveniently placed next to her bed, and slowly crept towards it as it tried to reach for the door handle, but failed.
In a flash, she turned the light on and yelled. "Hands up!"
The thing let out a shriek before going still as if it were a normal float.
She smacked her forehead. "Dude, I know you're alive."
"No I'm not." He replied.
"I just saw you!"
"No you didn't."
"You have five seconds to tell me who the heck you are before I pummel you."
"Wow, that's violent."
"Five."
"Don't I get a say in this?"
"Four."
"I feel like you're threatening me."
"I am, three."
"Why are you threatening me!?"
"Because it's home-invasion, two!"
"You bought me at the store!"
"One!"
"Ok! Ok! Fine!"
*bonk*
"I said fine!" He exclaimed, rubbing his now sore head.
"You ran out of time." She shrugged. "But seriously, tell me who you are."
"My name is Edmar, happy?"
"I'm gonna need more than that."
He sighed. "I'm-"
"Shh!" She interrupted, hearing footsteps coming up the stairs. "It's my parents!" She quickly turned off her light and jumped into bed.
"What do I do??" Edmar asked.
"I dunno, just play dead!"
Emily's mom peaked into her room, making sure her daughter wasn't up to something after hearing those strange noises.
She turned on the light and Emily pretended to be waking up.
"Mom? What's going on?"
"I thought I heard something." She replied, then saw her whale float one the ground, on its back with what looked like a tongue sticking out.
"What the...? Has your stupid float always looked like that?"
Emily's eyes widened. "Um...yeah, why?"
"It wasn't like that yesterday."
"Yes it was." She replied.
"Whatever, go back to sleep." Her mom left without another word.
"Geez, your mom is harsh." Edmar commented as soon as the coast was clear.
"You have no idea." She replied.
"So, I told you my name, now tell me yours."
"Emily, satisfied?"
"Yes." He replied simply.
"Where are you from?" She asked.
"The Atlantic Ocean."
She gave him a disbelieving look.
"No, really! I was a prince before that Witch's army took over my kingdom and turned me into this!" He gestured to himself.
"You were a prince?" She asked, still not believing.
"Yes! Prince Edmar the 3rd of the Atlantic!"
"Yeah, I'm gonna need proof."
He sighed. "Look, you're just gonna have to trust me. If you can take me back to my kingdom, you'll have your proof."
"Where is your 'kingdom'?"
"Just north east of the Caribbean." He replied.
"I'm sorry dude, but I don't-"
"Please!" He begged. "My people are under attack, I have to help them!" He exclaimed, giving her puppy eyes.
She sighed, it was a good thing she lived in southern Georgia.

Ten minutes later it was just past 3 in the morning, and the two of them were packed and in her mom's car, heading towards Florida.
"You're lucky I have a license." She commented.
"What's that?" Edmar asked.
"A Driver's License, you need one to drive."
"Oh! You mean like a Chariot permit?"
"Yeah, I think so."
Emily suddenly laughed to herself.
"What's so funny?"
"I'm just imagining the headlines, 'girl and whale float in a hijacked red SUV, be on the lookout!'"
He laughed too, this trip would definitely be interesting!
