He dropped his bag on the floor with a scowl on his face. The apartment was still a mess

Mugman: Cuphead!

He shouted loudly while storming to his brother's door. He knocked on the door sharply

Mugman: Cuphead, you were supposed to clean while I was gone!

Cuphead: Fuck off!

Mugman: I swear to God, you're so lazy! Ugh, do I have to do everything?!

Mugs complained as he began picking up stuff from the floor. He cleaned by himself and made food. A while later, he had finished everything

Mugman: Cuphead? I made food..

As he knocked on the door, but a whole lot more softly than before, he held a plate of food for his brother

Mugman: I'm going to my room, alright? I'm leaving the plate on the floor out here

His hand was on the door, and he spoke kindly to Cuphead. But he didn't hear anything. He couldn't help but feel guilt run through his mind

Mugman: If something's wrong, remember I'm always here if you need to talk

That was the last thing he said before placing the plate on the floor. He went to his room, shutting the door

Mugman: He can't be that upset over Gabriel and I. Maybe it's because Dice cut our paychecks again, hah

The mug chuckled as he took off an apron he was wearing. He realized he had forgotten to leave it in the kitchen. But he shrugged and tossed it on his bed, sitting at his desk

Mugman: What's this?

He wondered, picking up a paper he seemed to have forgotten that morning. It was a "cheat sheet" Gabriel made for him if he ever needed a translation when he wasn't there

Mugman: Damn it, I could've used this for that paper he gave me..

The mug muttered, holding the paper with both hands, glancing at the Enochian with English lettering labeled next to them

Mugman: Speaking of, I need to call him

He got up and left his room, heading to the home phone in the apartment. He dialed in the number by pure memory. He's called Gabriel so many times that the number was no problem for him

Mugman: Pick up, for God's sake..

He groaned, tapping his foot impatiently. Then, he heard a click, and Gabriel's voice afterward

Gabriel: Hello?

Mugman: Uh, hello, Gabriel

Gabriel: Oh! Well, hello my friend! Did you need something?

Mugman: I was wondering if we could meet up at your place? My brother's been a little under the weather lately..

Gabriel: My, is he sick?

Mugman: No, he's just.. um, yeah. He is..

Gabriel: Well, tell him I hope he gets well soon!

Mugman: Thanks..

He awkwardly said and glanced at the hallway that led to both their rooms. He was unsure that Cuphead would appreciate that

Mugman: Uhh, anyway, can I come to your place? Tomorrow? Around the same time that we usually meet?

Gabriel: Of course! I look forward to your visit!

Mugs was silent at that and felt even more awkward

Mugman: Well, bye.. uh, Gabriel..

Gabriel: Goodbye!

Once Mugman put down the phone, he sighed. Then he groaned when the phone rang again

Mugman: Yes?

Devil: Mugman?

Mugs jumped suddenly when he heard his boss's deep, husky voice

Mugman: Boss? What did you need?

Devil: I need you two to come to work tonight. Especially you

Mugman: Me?

Devil: Don't think I haven't noticed your brother coming to work on his own. He has been for a month straight. So work a shift tonight, or else you're fired

His voice was sharp and harsh. Once the demon hung up, Mugman slowly set down the phone

Mugman: Cuphead! We're working a shift tonight! I'm coming with!

He called out to Cuphead, restraining himself from sounding too harsh. He took a deep breath and headed back to his room

End.
