Father always told me "people are dangerous"  and "trust only leads to disappointment".  Well as much as I hate to agree with him, he was right.   I trusted a man with my life, and the life of my unborn daughter.   And after all that time that he said he loved me, it never stopped him from finding someone else, or kicking me and the baby out.  Or even threating my life if we didn't leave town.  I did my best with her for the first few years of her life.  But it turned out that I'm not much better than her father.

I ended up doing what I had learned that I did best; I ran.  My mama always read me a poem, and I could never forget the lyrics;  Among the flowers and the reeds,  lay countless untouched,  unburied seeds. But the sun will shine and some will grow,  like the others did long ago.   The rain will come and more will grow, but not like the others did long ago.  The farmer will come and bury the rest, but only those will be counted as best.

Most people didn't understand what it meant, they just thought it was a pretty rhyme.   But I always saw through it.   It meant that not everyone that lives will actually make something of themselves.  And that not every one who works hard will be rewarded.  Only the ones that waited and suffered truly get their glory.  Only a certain few find happiness.  My life didn't end with the happiness that I wanted.   My only goal in the rest of my sad, little life was to ensure that my daughter saw her happiness.

So like the poem said, I left her in the most sufferable life she could have.  I left her in the hands of the Elementals.  My tiny Miyuki.  My daughter.  I knew she would be a strong girl, who would truly become the best.  She was after all mine.   That at least was what I told myself would happen, My excuse you could say.  However,  I never expected the truth, not in a million years.
