As I woke up to a playful breeze, and the fierce sunlight, I noticed Damion underneath me. I was really hoping that my little train wreck episode had been a bad dream. I, very carefully, slid out of his arms and sat beside him on the window seat. He slept so peacefully, and quietly. Although he was an assassin, so it made sense to me. I reached over him and cautiously closed the window. I glanced down at the sunbeam across his face. It made his tanned skin, appear far lighter. And the streaks of brown in his hair, shone like highlights. Part of me wanted to reach down and touch him. He was mine after all. But I knew that I shouldn't feed these dangerous urges. So I stood and walked to my bathroom. I saw myself as I passed my mirror and stopped.
I turned to face it and I was disgusted with myself. My blue nightgown had been practically shredded, I was dirty and bruised, my hair was ratted, and I probably smelled like I hadn't showered in weeks. But I was more repulsed by what I felt on the inside. Weak. Was I really so powerless against my kidnappers that I had to rely on someone else. Even if it was Damion. I was born a weapon, and weak weapons are worthless. I leaned over onto the counter and sighed. "Worthless weapons get thrown away," I whispered, remembering Kai had said it a few years ago. "One man's trash is another man's treasure," Damion stated, from the doorframe. I didn't look up at him. He always had a saying to remind me that no matter who I was, he wanted me.
But it didn't change the fact that I was broken. I wasn't born to be loved, or wanted. I was born to be used. Damion just couldn't understand that. Actually, I knew he refused to understand it. When I hadn't responded he came up behind me and began massaging my shoulders. "I'm taking off this week, I want to take you somewhere," He added, after a few seconds of silence. I shrugged his hands away, and turned to face him. "You can't just take off. You kill people for a living, not sit at an office desk," I reasoned, trying to avoid his gaze. He laughed and tipped my chin up, so that I had to make eye contact with him. "I am a freelance assassin, I can do whatever I want. No one is going to do anything to me, even if they wished to," he replied, as amusement danced across his face.

I pulled my arrow back carefully and locked onto my target. A huge Enchanted buck, stood pridefully within my reach. I was about to let go of the nock, when a twig broke behind me and the deer leaped away. I groaned and dismissed my weapon. I turned to face Damion. "You cannot tell me that was an accident, you have the quietest walk on Rival!" I fumed, pacing in front of him. I saw him smirk, and turn away from me. "I have no idea what you're talking about, Miyuki," he replied, cunningly. I marched up to him, punched him in the arm and continued walking. He winced and rubbed where I hit him, before following me. "Miyuki, wait. I just don't want you to live this way," he admitted, before running in front of me and stopping.
"Maybe I want to live like this! Maybe-maybe I don't want to live with anyone. What if I am supposed to live alone," I countered quickly. His face flashed with hurt. I knew he wanted me to go live with him on his little island, he wanted to take care of me, and I knew he believed that he could treat me right. But I also knew that someone like me didn't deserve someone like him. "I may annoy the spirits out of you, but I will not stop until you at least try to have a decent life. Why don't you just come with me for a few days, and if you hate it that much you can always teleport back home," he pleaded. I considered it. I mean I could always come back, except I had a feeling that he wouldn't let me.
"Fine, three days," I replied, after weighing the pros and cons. He smiled. "Meet me at the docks in Gemminstone, tomorrow morning," he stated before vanishing, as he always did. I found myself almost excited to leave. But inside, deep down, I wanted to stay in my forest. My home. The only place where a monster like me could have possibly belong.
