   I could feel myself start to wake up, but my hearing was distorted.   My eyelids felt like they were frozen shut, as I couldn't make myself open them.  Someone was talking, the words were to mumbled to make out.  I felt something warm holding me close.  Compared to the pain of the previous frostbite, this was much preferred.  Eventually my eyes began to thaw, and I could see what looked like a blurry version of Damion?   Which meant that I didn't die.    It looked like he was asleep, or at least resting his eyes.  "Damion?"  I whispered, my throat was dry and sore.

His eyelids opened quickly, an his gaze met with mine.   "Yes, Miyuki?  How do you feel?" he asked, as he brushed the hair away from my face.  Against my better judgement I didn't push him away.  "How did you know where I was?" I replied, quietly.   My vision finally was clear again, and the expression of pure relief on his face was priceless.  "Remember when you woke up that one morning, and I was already there?"  He asked, softly.  "Yes, you said that I had called you there, but I didn't remember calling," I answered honestly, because my brain was too lost to think of a better lie.

"Every time you have a nightmare, I hear your voice in my head, calling my name.   That's why I came to your woods when I was ten.   I didn't know who you were, I didn't even know where I was going, but you have been calling me all your life," he replied,  his tone of voice changed from dull to passionate.   I was actually shocked.  In all my memories, I could not remember a single time that I called his name.  But it had to be true, how else could he have known where I was?  I remembered asking for his name, all those years ago.  "Damion, my head hurts, and this is very confusing.  Remind me to ask about  it later.  I want to sleep," I finally stated.

"No problem," he replied, as he carried me from my window seat to my bed.   He set me down gently, and took his boots and cloak off, before laying beside me.  He wrapped his arm around my waist and smiled.  "Before you push me away, remember you were almost dead a few seconds ago, for the second time," he mumbled into my hair.   Quite frankly I didn't want him to go, I was tired of being kidnapped.  And he was like a huge heating pad, which was exactly what I needed. "I won't push you away, yet.  Let me sleep," I muttered before finally allowing myself to relax.  I know Kai told me I should never let my guard down.  But Damion had always proven himself to be different.

~~~~~~~~Two years ago~~~~~~~~
Another cage of lightning summoned around me, and quite frankly I was getting too old for this.  "That was sloppy form, and you hardly put any effort into your attacks.  I don't know why you're so off today, but fix yourself," Kai stated and grimaced.  He began to walk away but stopped and turned back to face me.  "And if I find out that assassin boy is the cause of this, I will not hesitate to send him to the Heaven Realms," he threatened, before summoning his portal and leaving.  I kicked my sword out of my cage, and black magic swirled around me as I paced angrily.   "If he lays a hand on him, I swear I will kill him," I muttered to myself.  "If he lays a hand on who?" Damion asked, as he walked up to the cage holding a Honeydew apple.
  I concealed my emotions, before turning back to face him.   "No one," I replied, and stared at the beautiful crisp apple in his hand.   The corner of his mouth turned upwards.  " Want this?" he asked, as he held it out into one of the panels of the cage.   My stomach screamed for me to say yes, but I was being punished and had no right to it.   "No," I answered, before I transitioned to lay on my back.  "Suit yourself," he stated before taking a bite.   It was torture.  "You know you really have to stop letting him walk all over you, and use you," he added, quietly.   "Don't tell me what I already know.  It's none of your business anyway," I reminded him.
"You should come live with me, I would give you a soft bed, nice clothes, and all the food you could ever want," he persisted, as he put emphasis on each desire.   I wanted that more than anything.  But I already knew Kai would've killed him before we reached the nearest port.  "Sounds like a fantasy, and a pretty unrealistic one too," I finally informed him.
