As I came to, I found myself lying in Julia's lap on the couch. Lantern light was all that lit the room as the sun seemed to have set hours ago. Though I lay in her lap, Julia was fast asleep, beautiful as ever. Her long silver hair glistened in the lantern's flicker. I didn't want to wake so I covered her in a blanket and went to the study. I found Sai there rummaging through books he'd had delivered over time. "Can't Sleep?" I jokingly asked already knowing the answer. With four monsters in the house, the arrival of the hero could have meant our demise. "No but I have good reason! I'm trying to find anything on the 'Hero'. Given his title one would think him just but he is cold and uncaring. Compared to him it is most monsters who are righteous!" I couldn't disagree. A hero should defend his people and stop evil. This is not how a hero should act! Lily would be dead if I didn't step in! But in the days since things calmed down into our normal routine the only difference is evenings after supper Sai, Savra, and myself began training in order to defend our home should danger ever strike. But we took a break one day to celebrate Lily's 14th birthday and it was a grand occasion!
Until she asked to bring home a boy.
