We went out for a little walk the next evening. It was autumn, and the ground was filled with red and orange leaves which crunched under our shoes as we walked with our hands intertwined together.
"It feels so good." You spoke as I hummed in response. "Jimin?" I called you as you rubbed your thumb over my hand. "Aren't these leaves... dead? Aren't those trees... dying?" I had never thought of autumn in this way, and I simply smiled at you, a sad smile.
In return you smiled and kissed my cheeks. "They'll return in spring. The trees aren't dead, they are just... taking some rest... but the spring will revive them and this place will be filled with green leaves again!" You spoke in excitement to make me happy.
But I knew you were faking your happiness.
"We'll go to watch the cherry blossoms together this time, without our parents, what say? Just like a couple?" You asked me as I giggled and nodded my head, but we both knew that day was never going to come.
