40 pages, 10092 words and 51971 characters in google docs. I know this book made you cry, made you sad, made you smile, and made you happy. This was my first time writing a diary/memory-based book, and I like how this one turned out.
Again, criticism exists. So yeah, some of you might have wanted Y/n to die, or might have not liked the ending, or yeah whatsoever. But hey, not every story is supposed to be the same, right? You have your own story, I have my own. Neither two persons are the same, nor their lives are. It's the same with my story too. I wanted it to have a happy ending, although it wasn't my initial plan, but I just couldn't let Y/n die knowing that miracles do exist.
Now, according to a Japanese legend, a person can be granted one wish if they fold a thousand paper cranes. In Japan, the crane is usually referred to as the 'bird of happiness'. It is said to be a mythical creature that lives for a thousand years. The paper bird later became a symbol of hope and healing during challenging times, and the folding of 1,000 paper cranes was popularized with the story of a young girl named Sadako Sasaki.
In this story, Jimin, who believed in this legend, folded a thousand paper cranes for the love of his life, who was suffering from a deadly disease and had no chance of survival. I haven't mentioned a particular disease; I didn't want to focus on a particular disease knowing there are so many illnesses. I just wanted y'all to realize that, as I said, miracles do exist, and Jimin's dedication and determination to protect his love saved her life. She had already gone into a coma before he folded the last paper crane, but perhaps it was the magic the thousand paper cranes showed in response to Jimin's love for Y/n that she survived.
Till Memory 70, Y/n writes her memories in a way that Jimin would read it after her death, but Memory 71 and the rest were written by Y/n after she woke up from her coma, after surviving the surgery. As she mentions in her letter, her diary would have stopped at Memory 70, and it did, because in Memory 71 you can see how weird she felt, and by the time she realized that it were her last moments, it was too late. But Jimin's love brought her back, and this is the reason why she calls him an angel. Even Y/n had no hope for survival, but he did, he believed that she would recover, he believed that she wouldn't leave him this soon, he believed in her. Jimin didn't care about the bruises that he was receiving, the nights he wasn't sleeping, or the pain he was going through while making all those cranes. All he wanted was for Y/n to recover at any cost, be it through fate, prayers, or a miracle, and he would do anything for it to happen, for his beloved to survive. That's true love, isn't it? Selfless and strong.
This story is purely based on my imagination; it's a fantasy, which has nothing to do with reality. But yes, I repeat, miracles do exist. Fate is heartless, but it's wonderful too. I apologize if this book triggered some past incidents of your life; just remember, I love you all.
This book might not have lived up to many of your expectations, but I'm proud of it. I completed it within 24 hours, and this thing in itself is a big achievement for me. I love my work, it's perfect for me in spite of its imperfections. To everyone who voted, commented, and read this story, thank you so much. And as I usually say, I'm glad that I could make you smile, I'm glad that my work could make you happy, after all, this is my main motive—to spread love and happiness. Thank you for reading, thank you for voting, thank you for commenting, thank you for being here, and thank you for existing.
I love you all so much!🤍
