Hey guys so this is my first fanfic and it is set right after the battle of Hogwarts and hopefully up to the epilogue! I'm a little late getting into Harry Potter as you can tell, but better late than never! I own nothing and the characters belong to J.K. Rowling. I hope you enjoy it! Please comment! :)

Ginny sat in the Great Hall with her mother feeling exhausted but content; well, almost content. She was worried about Harry. She had not seen him since he had defeated the darkest wizard of all time, Lord Voldemort, only mere minutes ago. The world was safe once again because of her boyf-well... it was complicated. She was so preoccupied with the thought that something else might have happened to him, she stood up to go look for him completely unaware of her actions. Mrs. Weasley reached out gently and took her daughter's arm, seating her back down again. "I'm sure he is fine, Ginny." her mother said. Ginny sighed and leaned against her shoulder once more. "I love you sweetheart," Mrs. Weasley whispered. "I love you too Mum," Ginny told her back.
The Hall was full of students, parents, professors, Ministry employees, and those few left from the Order of the Phoenix. The dead and wounded had been transferred to St. Mungo's hospital to be taken care of by healers and hospital staff. Everyone sat around the four long house tables talking, drinking butterbeer and hot cocoa, eating and laughing. Many were injured, covered in blood from curse wounds or had large bruises made by the same effect. They were all dirty and tired, but spirits ran high throughout the Great Hall and the grounds of Hogwarts nevertheless.
After assuring herself that Harry would surely be alright and, she began looking around the Great Hall waiting for Harry, Ron, or Hermione to materialize, but did not see any sign of them for several minutes.
She eventually decided to go looking for them and got up, telling her mother that she was going for a walk. After offering to accompany her daughter, Mrs. Weasley only nodded when Ginny told her she just needed some time to clear her head. She walked around the castle looking for any sign of the "golden trio" (as she and the members DA began referring to them). The ancient halls were in ruins. She was sad to see the castle destroyed in such a manor.
Passing through corridor after corridor, reliving the horrors of the past few hours became increasingly unbearable. Physically and emotionally exhausted, she decided to give up on her mission and began walking back toward the Great Hall. She figured she would catch up to the trio at some point or another. As she was nearing the staircase leading to the entrance hall, she heard footsteps behind her and she turned around. There Harry was, standing on the other end of the corridor.
"Harry!"
Ginny ran to him, the sound of her feet echoing in the empty hall. He looked rugged and utterly exhausted, but a look of pure affection adorned his slightly hollowed features. She flung herself into his outstretched arms, and buried her face into his shoulder. She began to cry weakly, and her stroked her hair with one hand, and held her close with the other. They stood there together for what felt like hours. When Ginny finally pulled away, she saw tear tracks down the thin layer of grime on his cheeks.
She reached up and wiped the fresh tears from his cheek. Harry smiled and bent down to kiss her forehead. Ginny wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly. "Harry it's all so horrible, everything that's happened. So many gone. First Fred, then I thought you-" she started sobbing again, unable to continue. Harry held her tightly in his arms. "I wouldn't leave you," he told her.
Harry continued to hold her as she cried. "I love you, Ginny," he whispered. Her heart felt like it would break from affection. "I love you too," she said shakily through her tears. Harry pulled away and looked into her eyes. Then, he leaned in and kissed her. Ginny kissed him back. When they pulled away, she looked up at him. "Harry, I can't bear to be alone tonight. Will you stay with me?" she asked. Harry nodded. "I would like that very much." He took her hand and without a word they started making their way through the rubble, leaning on each other for support, their tired, injured bodies threatening to give out at any moment.
When they reached the entrance to the Gryffindor Common Room, the Fat Lady looked at them from her portrait and and was practically sobbing as she said, "You don't need a password dears. Go right on in." They nodded their thanks and walked through the portrait hole. They climbed the stairs to the boys' dormitories and into the first empty room that Ginny thought must be the dormitory of the first years. Together, they collapsed onto they nearest bed. Ginny lay with her back pressed against Harry. He wrapped his arms around her protectively.
Ginny began to cry again, and Harry held onto her. "I know it's hard but we will make it through, somehow." She quietly sobbed until her exhaustion won over, and she fell into a very deep sleep.
