...

That night, Ginny and Hermione went up to her room where an extra bed had been set up for Hermione. They changed and got into their beds in silence. Ginny was drained from a long, hard day, and instantly fell asleep. She dreamed of her family eating and laughing together in their back yard. She saw Ron, George, and Fred playing quidditch in the field. Bill, Charlie, and Percy were talking around a table set up in the garden. Her mum and dad were watching their children with smiles on their faces. She walked over to the broom shed and got out a spare broom. She hopped on and joined her brothers, tossing the quaffle back and forth, laughing. Ginny made a dive to catch it, and fell off of her broom. She screamed, and started falling. She hit the ground.

Ginny jerked awake, panting and screaming. She looked around in the darknesss, not sure where she was. Then she remembered coming home, having the memorial, eating, and going to bed... She realized she must have been dreaming. She suddenly felt a saddness rush over her because she had seen her brother again, and he had been snatched away from her again in an instant.

She sat up, trying to, clear her head. She didn't want think about it anymore. Ginny looked around her bedroom. Hermione's bed was empty, and she figured she must have gone to use the bathroom. She didn't want to go back to sleep, so she decided that she would wait for Hermione to come back and talk to her. She lay back down on her pillow to wait. After a few minutes, Ginny became restless. She turned over to face the door. She concentrated on the doorknob, as if concentrating on it would make her come back sooner.

Finally, she saw the knob turn and the door quietly squeaked open. Ginny sat up. She soon realized that the person standing in her doorway wasn't Hermione. The figure was taller and larger built than Hermione. Ginny grabbed her wand from her nightstand and muttered, "Lumos." Her wand tip lit up, and she saw that it was indeed not Hermione. She saw Harry take a step further into the room, and noticed his hair was messier than usual, and he was wearing nightclothes.

They stared at each other for a minute, then Harry broke the silence. "I found Hermione crying in Ron's room when I came back from the bathroom," he explained. Then he motioned to Hermione's bed. "Do you mind if I sleep here?" he asked. "I have a feeling it is going to be a long conversation." Ginny nodded and Harry got into the extra bed. "Nox," she told her wand, and the room was once again filled with darkness.

After a minute's silence, Ginny quietly slid out of bed and walked towards the other. "Harry?" she whispered. She heard the blankets rustle and felt his eyes on her in the darkness. Without a word, Harry lifted up a corner of the blanket, and Ginny climbed in next to him. She snuggled close to him, and he put his arms around her comfortingly. She was happy to be in his arms, but she couldn't stop her mind from going back places she didn't want it to go. She felt somehow disconnected, and it took her a long time to fall asleep that night.

...

In the morning, she woke up, and felt a hand stroking her hair. She moved a little to get comfortable. "Good morning," said Harry softly. After a few minutes, Ginny sat up. She wasn't ready for another day, but knew she couldn't avoid it. She got out of bed followed soon by Harry. She hugged him, then he turned and left her alone in her room. Ginny got dressed and went downstairs into the kitchen. She saw Hermione and Mrs. Weasley already up, sipping cups of tea. She gave them a small smile, then poured herself a cup and sat down with them.

Mrs. Weasley finished hers first and stood up. "I'll get started on breakfast shall I?" she asked. She began flicking her wand, and breakfast started to make itself under her watchfull eye. Hermione stood up too. "Is there anything I can do to help, Mrs. Weasley?" asked Hermione. "No thank you dear," she replied. "You run along now and make yourself at home." Ginny got out of her chair and got her wand out to help her mother, but Mrs. Weasley waved her off. "You too, Ginny." Ginny nodded and moved to put her cup in the sink, and then left the kitchen.

She walked out into the sitting room where Ron and Bill had joined Hermione. Ron was holding her hand reassuringly, saying, "Don't worry, we will be able to find them. We can even leave tomorrow. Dad can contact the Ministry in Australia and get help tracking down your parents. I'm sure that we'll have no problem at all." Hermione looked up with tears in her eyes. "What if we can't find them? What if they don't remember me? What if-" Ron cut her off. "Everything will be fine, don't worry."

Ginny sat down next to Bill. He put his arm around her and she hugged him back. They heard footsteps on the stairs, and they all turned. Harry walked in the room fully dressed, and with the little pouch Hagrid had given him for his seventeenth birthday. "Where are you going?" asked Ginny. "I-" started Harry. But at that moment, Mrs. Weasley opened the door to the kitchen, and said in a loud voice, "Breakfast is ready!" Bill, Ron, and Hermione stood up and followed her into the kitchen. Ginny stayed behind. She looked at Harry. "I have to go back to Hogwarts. There is something I have to take care of. I'll be back in a few hours," he said. "I want to come with you," said Ginny, but Harry shook head, then smiled. "You can't come with me because there is going to be a surprise when I get back."

Ginny scowled, slightly, but Harry grinned wider. "Can't have you figuring out what it is," he told her. Finally she nodded, and couldn't help but give a little smile. Harry smiled at her, then walked out the front door, and disapparated. Ginny walked into the kitchen, where plates of bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes, and toast had been set on the table. Hermione, Bill, and Ron had already piled their plates with food and had started eating. "Ginny, isn't Harry staying for breakfast?" asked Mrs. Weasley. Ginny shook her head. "He said he had something important to do and would be back in a little while," she explained. Mrs. Weasley nodded. Ginny sat down at the table and began piling food on her own plate, wondering what his surprise could possibly be.
