...In the time before Harry got back, Ron, Hermione, and Mr. Weasley had begun preparations for finding Hermione's parents in Australia. Bill, Fleur, Charlie, George, and Percy were all sitting around talking, while Mrs. Weasley cleaned up the kitchen. Ginny didn't feel like making conversation, so she went in the kitchen to help her mother. When they had put the last plate away, Ginny walked up to her room.
She sat down on the edge of her bed, and took out her wand, making little sparks come out of it. After a while, she got bored and lay back on her bed. She stared up at the ceiling, longing for Harry to come back. Soon she heard a crack outside and ran to her window and peered out. She saw Harry walking towards the door. She hurried downstairs. Harry was walking towards Ron and Hermione when she reached the bottom of the stairs, and he motioned her over.
Ginny saw a glow on Harry's face that she had not seen for a long time. She couldn't help but wonder what was going on. "There is something I have to show you," said Harry. He held out his hand. Ron and Hermione both took it and then looked at her. She didn't like disapparating, and hesitantly put a hand on top. Harry turned on the spot, and for the second time, she experienced the uncomfortable sensation of suffocation and claustrophobia.
Her feet hit the ground, and she felt sick. She stumbled and Harry grabbed her arm before she fell over. After a minute she smiled at him. "Thanks. I don't like dissapparating." Harry smiled back. "It takes a while to get used to it." Ginny looked around, and saw they were in a backyard. "Harry," she asked. "Where are we?"
"It's a surprise," he said. They all followed him through the yard and up to the back door. Harry knocked twice on the door and stepped back. A woman answered. Ginny, Hermione, and Ron gasped, and jumped back. In front of them stood Bellatrix Lestrange. Only, it wasn't Bellatrix. She was dead. She stared at the woman in the doorway. Hermione gasped again.
Ginny looked at her.. "Are you Andromeda? Ton-Dora's mother?" Hermione asked. Andromeda smiled and nodded. It was Ginny's turn to gasp. She looked at her more closely. Although she looked like Bellatrix, she had a kind face, with rosy cheeks and a fuller frame. She did not have the hungry, depraved look of her sister, from her years spent in Azkaban and devotion to the Dark Lord. Her eyes were sad, and slightly red and puffy from crying. She wore soft colored robes, and clutched a handkerchief.
"Minerva told me you would be coming. It's nice to see you again, Harry," said Andromeda. "Come in, come in." They followed her through the door. "What are we doing here?" Ron asked in a whisper, so Andromeda wouln't hear. "You'll see," Harry whispered back. Ginny saw Hermione was smiling, and saw a glint of excitement in her eyes. "What?" she asked. But Hermione just shook her head and grinned wider. Ginny narrowed her eyes at her, but she just shook her head again, and let out a small giggle. She wanted to know why they were there, and Hermione knew what was going on and wasn't telling.
Andromeda led them into a small room, with a few couches, and a fire burning in the heart fireplace. "Wait here," she told them. When she left the room, Hermione giggled again. It wasn't like Hermione to giggle, and Ginny looked at her. "What is it you're not telling me?" she demanded. "it's a surprise," she said. Harry smiled, and gave Hermione a knowing look. But before she could say anything else, the door opened, and in walked a smiling Andromeda and a squirming bundle-with blue hair.
"Oh," breathed Ginny and Hermione. She finally understood why Harry had been so secretive, realizing just who it was that Andromeda was holding. Andromeda walked over, and placed the baby in Harry's arms. Harry, sat down, and they all crowded around him. Ginny sat down next to Harry and stared down at the baby. He cooed, and stared up at them with wide curious eyes. "Hello, Teddy," said Harry in a soft voice. "I'm your Godfather." Ginny looked at him. "Oh, Harry. You're a godfather! Oh, that's wonderful!" she exclaimed.
Harry smiled at her. "Reamus asked me when he was born." Ginny recognized characteristics of both parents in little Teddy. He was obviously a metamorphamagus like his mother was, but he had his father's nose and brown eyes. "They couldn't wait for you to meet him." said Andromeda. Ginny saw tears in her eyes. Harry stared back down at his godson, his face sad, but full of love for Teddy Lupin.
"I know they wanted you to be a part of his life, and so do I," said Andromeda. Harry looked up at her. "Thank you," he said. "I will always be there for him." Harry gave him one last look, then handed him over to Hermione. She smiled and looked up to Andromeda. "He looks like her, Dora." she said. Andromeda nodded, her eyes full of tears. "Teddy is all I have left," she whispered, wiping her eyes. After a minute, Hermione handed Teddy to Ron, who looked very uncomfortable. He held the baby out in an awkward position, trying to figure out how to hold him.
"No, Ron," said Hermione. "You have to hold him close to you," she positioned Teddy in his arms, "and support his head like this." Ginny giggled while Hermione showed Ron how to properly cradle the baby. Harry winked at her. "Like this?" asked Ron, holding Teddy stiffly, the top of his ears turning red. Hermine nodded."Better," she said. Then she moved over to his side, and touched his arm as they looked at Teddy. Ginny smiled at them. She was really glad they had finally realized how much they needed each other.
At last, Ron passed Teddy over to Ginny. She gazed fondly at him, and touched his cheek with her finger. He cooed and smiled at her, and she smiled back. Hermione had been right. He really did look like Tonks. She missed her. Tonks had been her friend and mentor, someone she had always looked up to. Ginny was sad, not only because she would never see her again, but because she was never going to be able watch her son grow up.
She gave Teddy back to Harry, whose face was glowing. "You will be brilliant," she told him. Harry smiled at her, then stood up and handed Teddy back to his grandmother. "Thank you for letting us come and see him," Harry told Andromeda. "Thank you for coming. I'm grateful for all of your company, and I'm sure Teddy is too," she replied. "You are welcome anytime, Harry." Harry smiled and nodded, and then motioned to the others. "It was nice to meet you, and thank you again," said Hermione, giving Andromeda a hug. Ron smiled and nodded her, following Hermione.
"Thank you," said Ginny, also hugging her on her way out. Ginny thought she seemed sad to see them go. She waved a finger at Teddy, who smiled and gurgled at her, then followed the others through the door. Andromeda and Teddy stood in the doorway, watching as Harry held out his hand that would apparate them to the Burrow. They all put their hands on his. Harry turned, and Ginny caught her last glimpse of the people in the doorway, before disapparating to her home.
