Chapter 6: But TV could've distracted me enough
"Rise and shine, sleepy head!"
A piercing light shines through my closed eyelids, forcing me to immediately pull my cosy blanket over my head, and I utterly ignore the idiot who decided that waking me up at this early hour is a good idea.
"You better wake up now or else you'll be swimming in the next ten seconds." She warns me, but I simply ignore her empty threat and try to catch the sleep train once more.
"Don't say I didn't warn you." I could almost hear her shrug.
She's just bluffing.
I hope.
I hear footsteps walking towards the door and after a few seconds the sound diminishes into the passage, allowing me slip back into my former tranquility, and hopefully, my deep slumber.
Now let's go board the plane to California again shall we?
Before I can even set foot back into the world of dreams, ice cold, water is splashed right onto me, causing me to jolt awake with such energy that I somehow end up on my fluffy bedroom carpet, soaking wet.
"What the hell?!" I yell at the laughing, barely breathing, Kaitlyn holding a bucket which previously contained water.
"That was e-epic!" She continues to laugh without a care in the world, but eventually calms down after wiping her last tear.
Meanwhile, I have been glaring daggers at her this entire time, not even moving an inch from my position on the floor. "Care to explain why you woke me up with a bucket of water?!" I yell at her, but she seems unmoved at my outrage.
"You refused to wake up," She shrugs casually. "I had to think of something. Besides you were warned."
"I hate you, you know that?" I ask rhetorically. "And if I develop hypothermia, I swear I'll make you regret this."
"Goodluck with that." She scoffs.
"This person." I mutter under my breath, before standing up to stretch my legs and rub my sore butt. "What time is it anyway?"
Kaitlyn glances at the watch choking her wrist before saying, "7:16."
"You mean to tell me," I breath heavily while taking a small steps towards her figure. "--that you barged into my room to wake me up," my anger is increasing with each step I take towards the culprit and her taking fearful steps back shows that she notices my aggravation. "--at freaking 7 o'clock?!" I yell at her.
No one can wake me up before half past ten, especially on a Saturday morning.
"You better run." I state.
She gets the message and quickly charges out of my room with a shrill 'yelp', with me right on her tail. We run down the stairs, around and about the living room, up and down the passage, and we continue this pursuit for who knows how long.
"You'll never catch me you oversized sloth!" Kaitlyn declares while running into the living room once more.
"We'll see about that you decaying toenail!" I shout back.
I'm more physically fit than her and faster, but I just want to give it to her for now. Let her carry on thinking that she's faster even though I could've caught a few minutes ago.
Our childish antics end when an obtrusive object, or human rather, decides to magically appear in Kaitlyn's way, causing a head-on collision between the two. They tumble to the ground like Jack and Jill and luckily, I came to an abrupt halt in my steps before I'm also involved in the accident.
Kaitlyn lies on top of Conner and both are muttering profanities to one another, and I cannot help but burst out laughing at the scene that has just played before my eyes. My laughter resonates over the room and my stomach begins to tighten due to my endless laughing. Only after a good seconds of laughter, do I wipe my last tear just as Kaitlyn had done before.
"Are you done now?" Kaitlyn asks me in a monotonous voice.
"That was epic!" I mimic her words and she shoots daggers at me. "Told you you'll regret what you did." I tell her triumphantly.
"Whatever." She rolls her eyes.
"Someone please explain what is happening here." Kaitlyn and I forget that there is a third party in the room, one that which my best friend is currently sitting on.
"Long story." We respond simultaneously.
"Well then, I hope getting off of me won't be a long story as well." He says to Kate.
Kaitlyn's eyes widen with realization and she jumps off of my brother as though he had turned into a hot plate. No red color could explain Kaitlyn's cheeks right now and that makes me smirk at her and my brother.
"How much do you weight?" Conner asks after dramatically taking a deep breath.
"Stop exaggerating you buffoon." I roll my eyes before turning on my heels and walking back to my room to have a quick shower.
Something is going on between those two idiots, and I am bound to find out what it is.

"Must we go shopping for every occasion?" I groan from my seat in Peyton's car.
"Not really," Peyton shrugs with her hands carefully clasped onto the steering wheel. "But for this one we have to."
"Unbelievable." I sigh dramatically.
"Besides, it'll help you get distracted for a little while." Kaitlyn throws in her input as well from the front seat.
Turns out the reason why Kaitlyn had graced me with her oh so lovely presence this morning was because she and Peyton had planned to have a shopping spree for our upcoming gradation on Wednesday.
And no one cared to inform me of these sudden plans.
Peyton had picked us up from my house a few minutes ago, right after I had finished putting on m clothes; a simple with tank top paired up with high waisted jean shorts and my black and blue old school vans.
Luckily the two fashionistas did not complain about my choice of clothing since they are practically walking dead for forcing me to go shopping against my will.
"Get distracted from what?" I enquire innocently, knowing very well what they are implying.
"Don't act dumb with us," Peyton sees past my innocent expression through the rear view mirror. "We can see that you're not over that piece of scum."
"Don't call him that!" I defend him without thinking. "I mean," I clear my throat. "I'm over him."
Lies.
"We all know you're not." Kaitlyn points out blatantly. "You are still in love with him."
"Obviously." I admit. "How could I stop feeling something towards him?"
"See?" Peyton turns in the driver's seat to face me in the backseat after stopping at a red light. "This exactly what we are talking about. You need to forget about him for at least a day."
"But why shopping?" I groan again.
"We need graduation outfits, duh." Kaitlyn says the not so obvious to me.
"But TV could've distracted me enough." I mutter under my breath and cross my arms like an angry for years old.
"Yeah, sure." Kaitlyn replies sarcastically.
"And also, your constant flirting with my brother is distracting enough."
