Elijah knocked on the door and rang Trinity's doorbell anxiously wanting to see how she was doing. He was mad at himself that he had not pushed earlier to tell her what was going on. He tried and wanted to do it gradually because he was concerned what the news would do to her. The pass two weeks he tried to see her but she was preoccupied with Daniel. This was so sensitive that he wanted to do it when he could have her undivided attention.
Unfortunately, she found out the worst way possible from Daniel's wife. Elijah could not even imagine how Trinity was feeling. Trinity respected marriage and would be the last person who cheated with a married person. Elijah was angry because of Daniel's betrayal. Despite his doubts about the man, he was praying he was wrong for Trinity's sake. His jaw tensed up wondering why didn't he go with his gut and be more persistent with Trinity and his disapproval of this relationship. How could he tell a grown woman what to do? Trinity was swept off her feet and he would seem as the bad guy if he interfered with the relationship. Early on he found Daniel to be a smooth talker who was overly confident and seemed as a pretender. Daniel had indeed manipulated this situation to his advantage. He made Trinity fall in love with him leaving out the truth.
Elijah sighed realizing that the charlatan had broken Trinity's heart. This was heartbreaking on every level. He knew she could not survive another heartbreak. This beautiful and successful woman needed to know how much she was worth. Could she ever open her heart to him or anyone after this?
"Trinity," he called out again worried that she was not answering him. Elijah looked for her spare keys and opened the door still calling out her name as he walked down the hallway. He panicked wondering what was the problem.
"Trinity, are you here? It's me Elijah," he stated
once more. Elijah cautiously and nervously went in each room searching desperately for her. When he arrived in her bedroom his heart sunk and raw emotions erupted making him reach out to comfort her. Trinity lied in a fetal position in her bed. Elijah heart broke in a million little pieces seeing her like this. He wanted to figure out a million different ways to torture Daniel for this. However, he repented knowing violence was not the answer. Elijah knew she was hurting deeply and there was nothing he could do about it.
"Go away," Trinity sobbed looking up at Elijah. She felt broken and embarrassed about the situation. Elijah could not recognize her face. It appeared swollen and covered with her hair. He pulled the covers over her, lied down in the bed beside her and dried her tears.
"You are not getting rid of me that easily," he announced. "Elijah, I was so stupid for falling for him, he lied to me," she said. "Did you know about all of this? she asked. "Yes, I learnt about it two weeks ago through a private investigator. I just did not trust him and wanted to find out the truth. I tried to tell you," he confessed reaching for her hands. He held it gently. "Trinity Evans you are not stupid. This is not your fault. Daniel is the one who was dishonest," Elijah reassured her. "But I gave in and fell for him foolishly," Trinity scolded herself. "He tricked us all. Don't blame yourself for this," Elijah encouraged her.
"I can't handle this," Trinity admitted. "Trinity, you are not in this alone. It may be hard now but you will bounce back from this," Elijah said. She looked up at him grateful for his presence. He was the one consistent element in her life that never let her down.
He embraced her and she broke again. The sobs and groan came over her so strongly making her realized that she was still carrying relationship hurt in her life. The only comfort was the safety, warmth and love she felt in his arms.
She wrapped her arms around him tighter and cried her eyes out.
Elijah looked closely at Trinity as she laid fast asleep in his arms. He was extremely worried about her. Elijah had made up his mind that he would not be leaving her side tonight. He saw his phone vibrate and Hope's name flashed across the screen. He got up softly trying not to wake up Trinity. He went in the next room to call Hope.
