Venus Anona didn't know much.

But, watching two tributes fight over a stack of hay made her sure of her hatred for the capitol.

It got to the point that the tall boy from district two had to intervene, pulling the two away from each other.

Other than that, the rest of the day was uneventful.

As the sun began to hide its gold, Venus silently cursed herself for taking a nap in the day.

Panlo -bless him- still slept soundly and Venus applauded his ability to do so as her nap in the day led her to be unable to sleep at night.

She rest her head on a little cushion of hay next to Panlo, the edge of their forehead's touching.

She stared at the inky-black sky. No stars papered it, and it bought her some sense of comfort. The sky of district nine had rid itself of any visible stars because of the smoke and pollution from the plethora of factories plaguing the land.

As long as she kept her eyes glued to the sky above, she could imagine she was home in her bed as her brother pretended to sleep in the room under her's and her father packed some food for the following day.

She let her eyes shut and imagined that scene, a warm feeling hugging her heart.

Suddenly, she was disturbed from her thoughts, as a loud shifting noise scurried towards her ears.

She sat up, panicked.

"If its a rat I swear to God-" Muttered Venus.

Panicked, she got up. She tried to not think of the worst case scenario but she couldn't help it.

Thoughts of rabies, murder and peacekeepers clung to her mind as she rest her head back on the hay.

For once in her life, she let common sense chose the next course of action.

Then she gave up.

"Couldn't sleep either, huh?" Venus almost squeaked out.

God, she would look so embarrassing if someone was coming to murder her.

"No. I keep thinking about the fact that we're all about to die," Treech said back, clearly annoyed.

"Not all of us," Venus said, attempting to be helpful.

"Well then I keep thinking about the fact that I'm about to be a murderer," Treech spoke, in the same annoyed tone.

No one had ever said that thought out loud.

Venus was so determined to win the games she barely gave the eat or be eaten factor of it a second thought.

"I shouldn't have said that," Mumbled Treech. He feared Venus would start crying, then what?
