I smiled and flipped Aloo Paratha as Pakhi says
Pakhi: "Didi, I'll eat 2 paratha with Meethi Dahi." I smile and give her thumbs up. This girl is very talkative and shrap. It's not very hard for her to understand my signs also.
Pakhi: "Didi, you know my both mamu's like Aloo Paratha. Mumma said they used to fight like toddlers for it." I again smile and sign her two. I am curious about her second mamu because the first one is Adesh. I mentally scoffed at yesterday's conversation because that man didn't even correct me when I called Pakhi his daughter. Instead he went with the flow of the conversation. Pakhi giggles and says.
Pakhi: "Yes! I have two mamu's Adesh mamu and Nidesh Mamu. Nidesh Mamu is twin of my mumma and Adesh mamu is older brother of both of them and you know I also have a twin. His name is Kian. But everyone calls him Kinu" I set the paratha on the plate as I nod my head in realization. I wonder if Pakhi is her real name or nickname.
Pakhi: "Yess! and my mumma Anidha is the younger twin, you know Pakhi is my pet name. My real name is Kira." My lips form "o" as an action to make her understand. I take Dahi from the fridge and add sugar, some salt, some crushed jeera in it and beat it to mix the ingredients. Again I heard Pakhi say.
Pakhi: "Didi! you know Adesh mamu and I have code words to confuse people. It's very fun." I lift my eyebrows and nod. As she continues.
Pakhi: "Haan, didi! Sometimes, we have a code word for ice cream. Instead of saying 'ice cream,' we say 'baraf ki mithai.' It's our secret language!" I lift my right eyebrow and nod as I smile. Pakhi grinned mischievously and said.
Pakhi: "Oh, didi, there's also 'giggly gupshup' for when we share funny stories and 'Laal Gulab' for danger. Mamu says it's our little language, only for us." She mimicked her mamu. I giggle silently as I listen to her rambling.
Pakhi: "Mumma always gets frustrated because she doesn't understand our talks and Nidesh Mamu gives me and Kinu side eyes and says 'I am not loved by anyone' but you know Kinu and I love my family members equally." She nods and continue
Pakhi: "Mumma always says, Family is like a garden where different flowers bloom. Each flower is unique, just like every member of our family. Family is not just about blood relations; it's about the love, care, and support we share. It's like a team where everyone has a special role, and together, we create a beautiful garden and love is like the sunshine that nourishes our garden. It's the warmth and care we feel for each other. Love is not bound by words; it's expressed through actions, kindness, and understanding. It's a bond that grows stronger with time, just like the roots of our garden." She mimicked her mother as I stared at Pakhi. She's surely raised in a very good home and her mother must be very great that she's raising this girl and shaping her into a beautiful woman slowly. When she woke up this morning I thought she'll be scared of me and eventually asks for Adesh that's why I stayed in her room sitting on the chair waiting for her to wake up but she surprise me by saying 'your eyes are different' and I just stand there awkwardly contemplating what should I do. Surely I didn't imagine the scenario where she'll compliment me.
Pakhi is like a free spirit and bubbly girl. After some time she opened up to me and when she came into the living area She saw her and mamu sleeping. She just stares at him and says to me that 'I am seeing mamu sleeping for the first time' that's when I come to know he's her mamu not her father. After making her clean up we both went to fix the car which was now standing in its glory in the parking lot. I was very giddy when I first drove that exotic beauty and Pakhi also complimented me for fixing the car. As Pakhi is still rambling I clean the kitchen counter when I hear that deep velvety voice.
