VAANIAs the fog of my mind lifted, the events of before came rushing back to me like a tidal wave. Oh, Krishna ji! I had caused quite the ruckus in Adesh's house, all because of a stupid nightmare. ‘Oh no! no! Vaani, you remember the time in the hotel room. He had seen you bare. That's when all the fuss started because of you. Now bear it!’ My subconscious mocked me.
Red hot embarrassment washed over me in waves as I remembered my hysterical outburst. How could I have been so ridiculous? And to top it all off, I couldn't even remember how I ended up here in the first place. Everything is blurry. The pieces of the puzzle are slowly coming together, but the picture they painted is not a pretty one. I just want to sit in the corner and die out of embarrassment.
I feel his stare on and I know he's observing. As he again asked me,
Adesh: “Are you okay! ‘Angel’.” Hearing his question I bow my head down and just stare at my hands as I nod meekly. A glass of water and some medicines come in front of my vision as I stare at him and he nods towards them and tells me.
Adesh: “They'll help with pain” I couldn't help but my nose wrinkled as I eyed the array of pills laid in front of me. Seriously, did he expect me to swallow all of this stuff? Some of the pills were the size of horse tranquilizers, and the thought of choking them down made me want to gag.
Seeing my grimace, I caught Adesh's amused gaze from across the bed. He raised an eyebrow in amusement at least I think it is amusement, clearly finding my reaction highly entertaining. I shot him a playful glare in return, but it only seemed to edge him on further.
With a smirk, he sauntered over to where I was sitting and leaned in close, my heart taking its pace as tingles spread all over my body, his hot breath warm against my ear, complimenting his earthy scent, as he murmured, his voice low, husky and intimate,
Adesh: "Careful, ‘Sweet Angel’, those pills might be bitter, but I promise you, the consequences of not taking them will be far worse." I could practically feel the heat of his disapproval radiating towards me, and it made me squirm uncomfortably in my seat. As he continues, his voice drops to a conspiratorial whisper. His breath fanning my ear makes me statue in my place,
Adesh: “Don't make me force-feed them to you ‘Angel’, you wouldn't want to test my patience, would you?” I couldn't help but shiver at the suggestive tone in his voice, my cheeks flushing with embarrassment. As he has a certain way of making even the most ordinary task seem thrilling and dangerous. But as I reluctantly reached for the nearest pill, I couldn't deny that his warning held more than a grain of truth. I grimaced again and gulped those pills, again making faces. I sit on the bed quietly as then my eyes halt towards the mirror.
Dragging myself out of bed, I stumbled towards it, hoping to clear the shame along with the remnants of past hours Kajal. But as I caught sight of my reflection in the mirror, I recoiled in horror as gasp came out from me as I stumbled one step backward. My hair was a tangled mess, my Kajal smeared all over my face like a deranged Panda. I looked like something the cat dragged in, and not in a good way.
Avoiding my own gaze, I couldn't bear to see the reflection of the girl who had made such a spectacle of herself. How could I ever face him after this? He must think I'm completely unhinged. And who could blame him?
As if on cue, I feel his presence behind me. Panic surged through me like an electric shock. What was I supposed to say? How could I explain my behavior without sounding like a total lunatic? I wished I could just disappear into thin air, but unfortunately, I hadn't mastered the art of teleportation just yet.
