CHAPTER TWO | PRE-04.03

sam knew that she shouldn't be doing this. she knew that she was coming on too strong. the man's never met her for gods sake. this is definitely pushing some kind of professional boundary but it was too late.
samantha quinn made an extra cup of coffee in the break room today and now she is walking up to the bau to bring unit chief ssa aaron hotchner said cup of coffee.
she steps into the elevator and hits the button for the sixth floor. she's extremely nervous. she can only hope that the whole team won't be staring at their desks, watching her make a complete fool out of herself.
the elevator doors open and just her luck, the whole team is in fact all chatting and joking around at their desks directly in front of the stairs that lead to agent hotchner's desk.
she quickly walks past them and ignores the whispering that is for sure about her. she reaches the door to hotch's office and thank god the door is open.
she lightly knocks on the open door and waits for him to invite her in but he responds quite rudely without looking up from the paperwork he is currently working on.
"dave, i know you're working on a new book, but if you ask me to read another rough draft, i am going to give you 3 months worth of paperwork."
sam winces slightly and corrects the unit chief.
"um, it's actually not dave, sorry. i'm samantha quinn. i sent you an email on friday but i figured i would just introduce myself in person before we spend an hour together this afternoon."
hotch sits in silence, clearly analyzing the woman for what feels like ages and makes eye contact with her. which she know shouldn't make her feel attracted to the man but here we are. his whole troubled doom and gloom attitude is hot. even samantha can't deny that.
"this isn't necessary." ouch. "it would've been perfectly fine if we met later for the first time."
"well i just wanted to be polite. oh, before i forget, i hope you like coffee. i made it with the good coffee machine on the third floor."
hotch eyes her for a second and then thanks her for the coffee.
"well...i'll see you later then. you can just come to my office. it's 482."
"see you then, agent quinn." hotch says and then picks up where he left off with his paperwork.
god sam would rather be in prison than experience that ever again.
she quickly makes her way out of the man's office and heads down the stairs. she was hoping that she could slip away without having to talk to anyone but unfortunately the bau team stopped her as she was passing their desks. so close.
"hey blondie, what are doing up in these parts? we've never seen you before. and what were you doing with boss man up there, huh?" a man she immediately recognizes as derek morgan smirks at her as he asks her a slew of invasive questions.
"first of all, agent morgan, it's agent quinn to you. second of all, i don't think either of those things concern you." the blonde women smirks and crosses her arms at the man's shocked expression.
the rest of the team starts laughing and making fun of morgan being taken down by a woman that none of them have ever met before.
