Man, lemme tell ya, all I did was straight-up EAT, EAT, and EAT some mo'. My baby had my emotions goin' haywire, man. I was feelin' like a bottomless pit, hungry 24/7. Ain't nothin' could satisfy my cravings. I needed to nourish my little one growin' inside me, so I didn't hold back, you know?

To make ends meet, I hustled my way into a job at the local grocery store. I was all about stackin' that paper, man. I wasn't tryna stay with my mama and grandmama for too long. Don't get me wrong, they hold it down and all, but I needed my own space, my own crib for me and my baby.

Drique and I, we didn't have much to say after I ended things. That ship had sailed, and we both knew it. Homie bounced town, headed off to Duke University without even a peep from me. I don't know what he's up to, and honestly, I didn't even bother to ask. I had other priorities, like takin' care of myself and my unborn child.

So, picture this, I'm 'bout 5 months pregnant, rockin' a noticeable baby bump, and guess who walks into the grocery store? Yeah, you guessed it—Drique's own mama. I'm talkin' 'bout the woman who birthed that fool. My heart started racin', man. It was an unexpected encounter, and I had a whirlwind of emotions swirlin' inside me. I hadn't seen her since everything went down between me and her son, and now she decides to show up right in front of my face. This situation was no joke, and I didn't know how to handle it, straight up. The bold in me wanted to lay her out but i needed that job so i kept quiet until she came through my line.

"Hey Giselle. How has everything been?''

''Hi....Everything has been going well thank you for asking."

I am glad that i covered up my stomach because the last thing i needed was her running off to Drique telling him what she saw.

''Are you expecting?''She asked me . Damn.....she definitely noticed.

''I am...''I said handing her her receipt.

''Congratulations Giselle. I hope you have a great rest of the day.''She smiled before walking off. lady i am having your grandchild but i didn't want Drique to know anyway so i didn't say anything else about it.  When i was ready to clock out a darkskinned dude wearing a durag, black tee and jeans walked up to the center. He had gold chains that hung around his neck.

''Wassup beautiful.''He smiled exposing straight white teeth.

''Hey...'' i said while ringing up his stuff.

''Where you from i don't think I've seen you around here.''

''I'm from Calvert...i just work out here.''

''Country girlllll... I'm Antoine..folks call me Brick.''He said

"Giselle.''I smiled. My manager walked over to me and helped me count the money in the drawer after giving Antoine his items.

''Maybe i will see you around some time."

''Maybe.''

He was fine but i really ain't have no time for a man . I been using my two fingers since the day Drique left. I rather continue using my two fingers than be with an ain't shit nigga. Kelly was steady tryna push one of her cousins off on me . At 5 months pregnant i could barely see my toes let alone sit around and feel comfortable around another man .

I opened the front door to my grandmama house and on the couch sat my brother Tyreese and his girlfriend Lisette.
''Somebody named Drique came by asking for you.''

''What?''

''Yeah...said he was in town for a couple days and wanted to talk to you.''

''If he come back here tell him i moved away. I don't want anything to do with him.''I replied

''Why tho?I thought you and Drique was good.''

''We ain't been cool in 6 months just do what i said Tyreese.''I replied. I walked to my room and sitting on my bed was Drique.

''Why are you in my room?Tyreese ! why did you let him in my room?"I yelled.

''Listen i just wanna talk to you. My mama told me she saw you in the grocery store and saw that you was pregnant."

''i am.''

''Well is it mine?''

''I haven't been with anybody in the past 6 months Drique. Yes this baby is yours.''

''So why didn't you tell me?''

''i came to tell you that day then i saw you hugged up with Latasha Green.''

''I still should've been told Giselle."

''I wasn't getting rid of this baby.''

''And i wouldn't have asked you too. That was selfish Giselle regardless of what we went through.''

''So what do you wanna do now Drique? It's too late to get rid of her and I'm not giving her up.''

"I wanna be a part of her life, ya know? I know I messed up, Giselle. I'm sorry," he said, grip tight on my hand.

Man, it caught me off guard when he said that. Drique standin' there, holdin' my hand, lookin' all sincere. It hit me right in the feels, ya dig? He was apologizin' for all the mess he put us through, and deep down, I could see he meant it.

I looked into his eyes, tryna figure out if his words were for real or just some game. But somethin' in his gaze made me believe him. I could see the regret, the genuine desire to be there for our child, to make things right.

I took a deep breath, feelin' a mix of emotions swirlin' inside me. Preggo hormones had me all over the place, but in that moment, I considered givin' him a chance. Our baby deserved to have her daddy in her life, as imperfect as he may be.

"I appreciate the apology, Drique," I finally spoke, my voice a bit shaky. "But this ain't just about you and me no more. We got a little one to think about. I gotta see if you're really ready to step up and be there for her."

He nodded, his grip on my hand tightenin' even more. "I understand, Giselle. I'm ready to do whatever it takes. I wanna be a better man for you and our child."

I looked into his eyes one more time, searchin' for any signs of doubt or deceit. But all I saw was determination, a genuine desire to change. Maybe, just maybe, there was a chance for us, for our little family.

And so, with a glimmer of hope in my heart, I cautiously agreed, "Alright, Drique. We can start fresh. But know that I'll be watching, makin' sure you keep your word. Our baby deserves the best."

"I promise i will be there..I promise to keep my word.''

I believed him...after all i wanted to give my daughter the family she deserved .
