chapter eight

Alex and I waited for the rest of them to walk here. I was in the kitchen, sitting on the counter top. He was somewhere that wasn’t the kitchen. I heard the door open and voices. “Austin you’re soo funny!” I heard Madi say. My nose crunched up at the sound of Austin’s name coming out of her mouth. Since the phone call, I’ve started to think she likes him. That’s why she didn’t want me to come with them on the trails. She was probably up more than I was. I was deep in my thoughts, that I didn’t even notice Austin came into the kitchen. I looked up at him and he was staring at me. “Are you mad that we didn’t wake you up to go on the trails? Alex said you were kind of sad.” He said. “I'm not mad at all. I’ll just go on them later.” I said. “By yourself?” he asked. I nodded and hopped down from the counter top. “You can’t go by yourself. There could be a creep walking the trails waiting for pretty, young girls. I’ll go with you.” He said. “Whatever you say Austin.” I said walking out of the kitchen. I walked up to my room and laid down on my bed. “I’m still tired!” I said to myself. I heard someone laugh and I looked up at the door and saw Shelby. She closed the door behind her. “Oh hey.” I said putting my head back on my bed. “I wanted to wake you up this morning but Madi insisted.” She said rolling her eyes. “She was up longer than me.” I said. “Yea. She was totally flirting with Austin the WHOLE time” Shelby said in an annoyed voice. “That’s exactly why she didn’t want me to come. I heard her last night talking on the phone to Darcy saying that I was trending and that Austin and I were spending time alone. Then she said she wanted that.” I told Shelby. She looked at me and raised her eyebrows. “I’m pretty sure that Austin likes you way better then Madison. Like he didn’t even flirt with her back. It was hilarious.” She said. I just laughed. We went downstairs to see everyone waiting on the couch. “We were thinking about going Canoeing!” Austin said. “Extreme canoeing.” Alex added. “What’s extreme canoeing?” I asked while sitting down on the arm of the couch. “Where there are 2 teams and they try and tip each other.” Robert explained. It sounded kind of fun. “Well we can’t have boys verses girls because that Is definitely unfair.” Madison said. I bet she wanted to be on Austin’s team. “Okay, we’ll have Madison, Robert, and Austin on a team. Then its Lexi, Shelby and I.” Alex said. I liked my team. Shelby and I were both on the basketball and volleyball team so we have muscle and know how to be aggressive.
