Mo P.O.V.
Never, and I mean never in my life would I ever thought I'd be happy to wake up to the smell of rotten eggs and other...unholly bad smelling things, but here I was, coughing my loungs out from Raven's moss, but being so grateful for it.
Brian didn't even give me a momentto catch my breath before pulling me in a rib-breaking hug.
"C-can't breathe!" I wheezed and patted him on the back. He set me down. "Sorry, sorry, you just scared the shit out of us."
Milo smacked me over the head. "Yeah."
I rubbed the spot he hit. "Bitch."
My friend smirked. "I certainly missed that."
Groaning, I rolled my eyes and sat down by the roots of the tree we were sitting under. I looked up at the sky, soft shades of pink, orange, red and just a tiny bit of light blue colored the sky. I frowned. "How long was I out?"
Milo checked his watch. "Twelve hours and thirty five minutes. We thought you already reached the Fire-Pits."
I scoffed. "I think Kryos still has a restraining order on my name."
That drew a smile from both my cousin and Milo.
The leafs of the trees rustled and Yueliang landed a few steps away from me, her wings retracting in her back. "Oh, you're awake."
I chuckled. "Nice seeing you too sunshine."
"Oh hush, you didn't die."
Milo gave her a hard stare. "But they almost did. You know, maybe you should care a bit more, since, y'know, you're their girlfriend."
Yueliang's eyes narrowed. "Maybe you should keep your opinions to yourself."
What the Fire-Pits happend between these two? Milo seemed so distrustful, and he wasn't even hiding it, and Yueliang was so defencive -can't blame her for that, Milo could get under your skin when he wanted, but something didn't sit right with me here.
"Yue?" I looked up at her. She sighed and her shoulders droped a bit,but didn't quite relax. "Sorry, situation was tense for everyone. In other news: we have company."
Brian frowned. "Company as in good company or bad company?"
"You tell us!"
No. Way.Brian P.O.V.
I have never seen Mo shoot up so fast from a sitting position and practlicly tackle someone, yet they went like an arrow and tackle-hugged Dean and Jack. The two laughed and hugged them back. Dean brushed curls out Mo's face in a fatherly way. "Now,don't tell me you missed us!"
"A lot."
Jack chuckled and ruffled their hair. "O'Leary heard of your little stunt and sent us to help."
"That bastard! Why the fucking Fire-Pits won't he answer his Spiritsdamned phone?!"
The two shared a look. "The Secret Police is on his tail."
The news hit me,Milo and Mo like a truck. I barely found my voice. "W-what?"
"How the Fire-pits did that happen?!" Milo asked, looking in disbeliefe. Jack looked at Yueliang, then back at us. He spoke is Velonian."Let's talk where we don't have spectators."
We all nodded. "Yue, can you go see how long we have until the next town?" Mo asked her. Yueliang seemed to want to protest, but instead sighed and agreed, taking off.
Dean sat down. The elf looked both beaten up and tired. A still redish scar traced down his jawline to his neck. Another one to the 'colection'.
Jack put a hand on his husband's shoulder. He looked a bit better out of the two,but that didn't mean much in their case. With assassins, scars are their buissnes card, the more the better. They showed that they were able to survive whatever came their way.
Out of all the Five A's , O'Leary had the most. He was the founder of the Five, he was the one who braught them togheter, and the one who was an assassin for the most time, and a force to be reckoned with. If the Secret Police managed to get on his trails...
"So, how the fuck did this happend?" Mo started pacing back and forth, looking like they're going mad with worry.
"We have a traitor among us."
Milo nodded in thought. Last night, he confessed the fact that he has a bad feeling about Yueliang, and I couldn't help but agree. She had been acting off and when Mo, her lover was on their deathbed, she was rather annoyed by the fact we had to go look for Raven's Moss.
Mo's eyes widend. "What? But who would do that!?"
I looked at Milo, as if asking if I should tell them. The Priest of Mae shook his head.
Jack sighed. "We're not sure yet."
"A-and O'Leary? What do we know of him? And what about Core?"
Dean did a 'time out' sign. "What was that of Core?"
Both looked at us worried and confused. Now it clicked: Mo said that those two had been unreacheble after they spoke with Core.
"O'Leary sent her on a mission. She went M.I.A."
"That. Fucker. Is. Dead." Dean groweld.
"We can kill him after we get his ass safe. First things first, when did you last see him?" Mo asked, pinching the bridge of their nose.
Dean and Jack both looked at eachother. "Well...last we've seen him, he was acting really strange, mumblin' bout a second chance or somthin' like that."
I rasied an eyebrow. "Does he want turn a new leaf or...?"
Dean snorted. "Have you ever seen a devil looking for redemption?
"I...no."
Milo sighed. "Well then, what do we do now? Go for O'Leary or to the Snake's Creek?"
Jack rasied an eyebrow. "Snake's Creek?"
"Long story. But anyway, I think it's better if we go for the creek. They're not on the White Robes' side, neither on the Hidden Market's, but they're known to help the latter more rather than the first.''
Everyone looked at me in deep silance. After a bit, Dean pulled out a coin.
"Heads." Mo said.
"Tails." Jack countered as his husband fliped the coin.
The shiny piece of metal fliped into the air for almost a minut, then it slowly descended. It fell on Dean's palm."
"Heads."
Mo smirked. "Snake's Creek, here we come."
Jack groaned. "You little bastard have O'Leary's luck at flipping the coin."
Mo chuckled. "That's why I'm his right hand and the backbone of the 5."
That was true. Despit Mo being second youngest, they were the one who kept it all working. I can't remember Mo ever failing a mission...
So, we waited for Yueliang to return, and we continued our travel.
Now, with those two with us, the journey became the more fun. Jack,Dean and Mo were making fun at eachother's expans. It was refreshing, having something to remind us of home. I sighed, the feeling of homesick settling in. I missed the crooked building of the Tower House, with all it's turns and twists and the walls so thin you could hear what was happening at the last floor from the first.
Me and Mo shared a room at the last floor, which was a bit of a pain for me, considering the number of still-healing broken bones I have from fighting in the-
I shook my head. Stop thinking about that, Brian. You're not there anymore, and no one is taking you back there.
Dean's hand landed on my shoulder. "You ok kid?''
I almost chuckled. Kid, how long ago have I been forced out of that stage?
I gave a nod. "Yeah, I'm fine."
"You sure! Because you sure didn't look so fine to me. Something on ye mind?''
If I trusted any of the Five besides Mo, that was Dean. Why? I'm not so sure. Ever since I got freed, he's been the one to look out for me. When I asked him why, he said that I looked over the others all the time, so I needed someone to have my back too.
"I..I can't tell you right now."
He raised an eyebrow, now looking worried a tab bit. "Why?"
I nodded my head to Yueliang and Mo. My cousin was blabbering about something, and Yueliang listened, with an amused expresion. A chill ran down my spine. This girl could go from hot to cold quicker than a flash, and she knew how to act around Mo to keep them wraped around her finger.
Dean nodded, then looked at Jack, who was talking to Milo, discussing the situation they were in:a myserious message from someone claiming they knew Mo's father and where he was.
"Love." Jack's head wiped back to us when he heard his husband's voice.
"Yes darling?''
"How long until we reach The Merry Crow?"
Jack took out a map from his bag. A white mist swirl on it. He focused and the image of a meedow with a small inn in it's middle appeared.
"About half a day."
"Half a day..." Dean mused. "Ok, we'll do this:we travel together until the Merry Crow, then me and Jack will go look for Core and O'Leary. I wish we'd come with, but it'd be more efficient if we split." then he looked at me. "You could come too."
Leave Mo? I mean...they need me. I can't. "Thanks Dean, but I think I'm good.''
He shruged. "As you wish."
We walked the forest road for hours in row. Mo and Yueliang walked ahead, holding hands. Milo scoweld besides me. "Fake bitch." he groweld in Vellonian. I placed my hand on his shoulder and signed 'She can still hear you. She knows Vellonian."
Milo's eyes widend and he signed back 'Oh shit, now you're telling me!"
I rolled my eyes amusingly. "It isn't rocket science to figure. She is from Vellos."
"Oh screw you. So she heard every single bad thing I said bout her?"
"Yup."
Milo groaned. "I hate you."
"Love ya too."
Milo groaned and his fave darkend even more with crimson. He always did that, then looked away muttering. I wonder why.
Mo looked back and shot him a mischevious cat-like grin, which only served to annoy Milo further. What the heck did they know that I didn't?
