The smell of a distant fire filled my nose, coughing into my sleeve as I run in search for the exit.
The Doctor said she will be a second but even timelords dont seem to have a concept of time.
Adrenaline was the only thing keeping me alive and my legs were so close to giving out. The corridors were long and claustraphobic.
Little metal trays were on either side of me and filled with extraterrestrial medical equipment and several plant pots for decoration.
My feet stumbled forward. My body on fight or flight.
I felt a cord of wire catch on my foot, splintering into my ankle and tripping me up. I cry out as I fall onto the floor, the pain in my ankle adding to the light headedness I already felt.
It felt like forever, just lying there on the floor. The smoke swirls above my head, getting thicker with each minute that passes.
Im really going to die arent I?
It felt eerily quiet, the fire that was swarming the building was catching up now. I felt warmer than before and knew I couldnt do anything about it.
I knew I was loosing myself as I was beginning to imagine that The Doctor came back for me.
She'd leave me here, Im holding her back.
I let out the final breath I'd held which was painful and chocked with smoke.
...
My body was light, I couldnt feel the ground beneath me.
I really am dying. Its not a surprise, Id leave me there too.
My eyes were heavy, but they were still trying to lift.
"Doctor?"
I attempted to say but could only whisper.
"Im here, y/n. Ive got you."
The Doctor replied, I soon realised she was holding me bridal style with my head resting in the crest of her neck. Her voice gave me goosebumps.
I am realllyyy close to her face..
I hummed in response to her caring words.
I felt her glide over the fallen obstacles infront of her and run through each new door to the nearest exit.
She seemed aware of my injured ankle and was conscious to not brush it against anything.
After a while the Doctor had presumably reached the TARDIS and had led me down on the floor and sat me up against a pillar.
I spent the moments trying to recall what actually happened, to remember what I felt.
I remembered getting lost in an alien hospital, The Doctor called the species 'Dyks-pem'. I had no idea if it was another language but The Doctor just said it was the english translation.
I remember the fire breaking out and running to get out, the way the wire caught my leg and how badly it stung. I look down and notice the wire still hanging out of my leg and all the pain floods back and I tightly shut my eyes and whimper.
"Oh Im sorry let me help that!"
The Doctor claims, running over with some weird circle device and placing it gently on the side of my head. I didnt question and I just assumed it was pain killers stored in the TARDIS. I sighed and kept my eyes shut.
