Wide of the boardwalk and beach. Kids in clusters in golden light. A few beached boats in the BG from the storm. Lily and the Pogues are walking together with a keg.
V.O (Lily):
"You can't understand the Outer Banks without understanding the boneyard. It's kinda like a three-layer burrito."
"What's up girl?" A strange girl says to Lily.
"There's us and our friends, the working-class derelicts."
"Hey there, beautiful." A strange boy says to Lily.
"And, there are the Kooks, the rich second-homers. They're mostly from poncey-ass boarding schools, just rich trustafarian posers. Our natural enemies."
"And then there are the tourons. Totally clueless. Here for a week on vacation with their families."
Lily starts walking around the beach Kiara is talking to a guy, JJ is flirting with a tourist girl and John B talking with Pope.
"It's kinda weird when on TV, we see people die, and they just kinda sit there, but in actuality, they would be shitting and farting up a storm."
"Sarah, Sarah. Be careful!" A boy from the distance says.
"And that's The Cameron's. Kook royalty. Sarah, Kiara's best friend in the ninth grade, worst enemy in the tenth grade. Rafe, worst of them all. A psychopath, abusing and manipulative person, everyone's worst enemy. I work on their dad's boat, so, you know I've seen them around."
"What are you doing?" The same boy says from the distance again.
"And that's Topper, her not so pleasant boyfriend. Topper actually thinks Pogues were bred to mow lawns."
"Rafe!"Another girl says laughing.
"Grace. Rafe's probably longest girlfriend ever. She thinks that Pogues are born just to be slaves and work all day, also she thinks we smell very bad all the time."
End of V.O:
The Pogues carry plastic cups, wander over to the buoy and join the kooks.
JJ has a cup in his hands and is making his way to Sarah and Topper.
"Hey, got this for you. Want it?" JJ says handing the cup to Sarah.
"No, thanks." Sarah says.
"Is it not fancy enough for you?" JJ says.
The other Pogues are making their way to them to see what's happening.
"No. We were just leaving." Sarah says.
"Hey, you know what. I'll have it." Rafe says.
"That's nice but I didn't ask you. If you said, pretty please, maybe, but you didn't." JJ teases.
"Oh, pretty please." Topper teases.
"Yeah, Sarah. You can have it."
"Pretty please?" Rafe chuckles.
"She doesn't want it- you."
"Okay." Sarah interrupts Topper and takes the cup.
"You're so funny man." JJ says, Lily taking him back by his arm.
"Dirty Pogues." Topper says slapping the cup away.
John B shoves Topper back.
"John B. We were supposed to be incognito , remember?" Pope says trying to break the fight.
John B pushes Topper knocking him back into the tidal pool as he stands up Topper pushes John B towards the water.
"Hey, John B, don't make me drown you like your old man, all right?" Topper teases John B.
John B is enraged. He lunges at Topper who sidesteps and retaliates with a real punch that knocks John B on the sand.
Everyone else comes to watch the fight. The fight is vicious and evenly matched. John B is scrappy. Topper is fighting him with fierce.
Topper connects brutally. John B goes down near the tidal pool. Topper drags John B to the water. He holds his head under. Pope and Lily try to get Topper of John B but it's not working.
"Sarah. Can you get your fucking boyfriend of my brother please?" Lily yells at Sarah, fear and anger showing in her eyes.
"Topper! Get up! Stop!" Sarah yells at Topper.
Rafe just sits in the back admiring the whole situation holding his girlfriend around her waist.
"Someone help me get this dude of him please!" Lily yells and Pope taking her back by her arm.
Suddenly there's a gun at Topper's head.
"Your move, broski." JJ says.
Topper holds his hands up. Backs up slowly.
Pope makes his way to John B and lifts him from the tidal pool. He spits out water. JJ looks at Sarah and Lily looks at Rafe.
"JJ, put the gun down." Sarah says.
"Did you say something, princess?" JJ replies.
"Put the gun down, JJ!" Kiara yells.
JJ puts down the gun. And looks at Lily who is feeling every fucking emotion right now.
"Kie. Can you check your psycho friend, please?" Sarah says yelling at Kiara.
"Get your fucking boyfriend and your fucking brother with his wanna be Madonna girlfriend and get the hell out of here!" Lily says yelling at Sarah.
"Everyone, listen up. Get the hell off our side of the island!" JJ says firing the gun to the sky.
As the crowd moves off, Kiara shoves JJ.
"Are you crazy? You idiot. Stupid." Kiara says.
"Why did you do that? It's not worth it." Pope yells at JJ.
"I'm saving his life, okay?" JJ says as Lily runs to John B.
"You're gonna jeopardize everything!" Pope yells at JJ again.
"Pope! Stop yelling. God. I could use some help here." Lily says trying to get John B up.
V.O (Lily):
"You know what I forgot about my father that i didn't mention? The weeks before he went missing, he says to us: "Kids i think i found something. Your Uncle T is gonna come stay for a while. I might have to vanish for a bit." So he talks about vanishing and he vanishes. Everyone says he was lost at sea but... he's still out there and we know it."
