It was the start of the new year, and unfortunately it's the time for the Pixie Trials.

As always we wake up at 7 for morning meditation, where we calm our nerves and try to achieve a peaceful state of mind.

You must wake up or you will be seen as disgraceful, you must meditate to gain focus, and clarity. That's the motto they often use to get you to not be lazy.

I get up from my flora inspired seat, getting in line with the others meditation was over. It's time for tea, and breakfast.

The instructor takes us to the communal pavilion, getting my usual chamomile with honey.

Sitting next to Jilia, and Koi.

Koi is a water pixie, and Jilia an earth pixie. They both seemed to like each other, always helping one another. Jilia is very bubbly and optimistic while Koi is reserved, quiet and calm. Maybe they just balance eachother out.

" Eliana, you do realize the trials are right around the corner. You haven't made any progress on your magic," Jilia says with a concerned look.

I look at her and say " jil I'm trying , like I already know that" I say shortly.

I sip my tea, and let out an exhausted sigh.

" ok I was just concerned" she says, with a sad look.

Good thing Koi could cheer her up, telling her a funny joke and making her laugh.

I roll my eyes and take a bite out of the biscuit.

" come my darlings it's time for training"

We all put our tea cups down and I dust myself off. Heading off to the training grounds with the rest of the group.

Instructor Dawn led us to the open field, surrounded by tall trees and the sounds of wildlife sprinkled with wildflowers.

" So as you know, it's the new year of Zi. The time has come for the trials. Starting today you all will be training hard, harder than before because if you do not you will not be accepted into your respected house" she says eying all of us.

" I would like it if you all paired up and practice the basics together. And if a pair is strong enough, they will duel each other." Crossing her arms

" The time starts now, good luck" she nods for us to go pair up.

Jil and Koi pair up, and so does everyone else. I look around for anyone that's partner less. And I only see Makani.

She was leaning on a tree, wearing dark shades to hide her expression. She noticed I was staring and I look away.

" Eliana? Makani doesn't have a partner, go partner up and get started" Dawn says

" okay "

I make my way towards her, and someone yells "Eliana look out"

I crouch down quick, and it was a ball of fire being thrown. Luckily it missed me and Dawn put it out.

It's not out of the norm to get balls of fire thrown at your face, I mean it happens to you right?

I stand up and fix my hair " are you okay?"
A strong voice spoke

I look up and it's Makani, " yeah I'm ok"

" let's pair up and start" she starts walking towards a nice space a little bit away from everyone else.

And I followed, watching her practice using her magic effortlessly. She took off her sweatshirt and her shades, wearing a tank top with biker shorts, with her black boots.
