It's now September, Max and Mike have been getting along well as work colleagues and as friends. The environment is relaxed and although neither of them were quite at the point where they would want to admit they liked each-other's company, they were always excited to see one another every morning.

Max: Okay we need to pick up a delivery, are you able to do it or do you want me to?

Mike: Yeah sure okay.

Max: You sure that's fine?

Mike: Wow you don't trust me to drive across town?

Max: Oh shut up. Don't take too long either we're so busy today and I'm already going insane.

Mike: Yeah I'll be quick!

Max's eyes followed Mike as he left and just as she was watching him walk over to his car through the glass of the shop door she was approached by a 6 foot brunette who made intense eye contact as he placed "Sixteen Candles" onto the counter.

Max looked into his eyes, acknowledging the attractive teen. She rang up the film and gave him his receipt.

Max: Thanks have a nice day.

Bryce: You work here full time?

Max was surprised he started a conversation, but she assumed he was interested in a job, especially considering she didn't recognise him so he was probably new to Hawkins and looking for work.

Max: Yeah pretty much, I have Wednesday and Fridays off at the moment but the rota always changes depending... Sorry I'm totally rambling we are actually hiring if that's what you where going to ask-

Bryce: Yeah no that's not why I asked. I was just wondering when I could take you out.

Max blushed, not expecting to hear him say anything close to that or be so forward about it.

Max: Oh, right I see.

Bryce: But now you mention it I am also looking for a job so if you can set an interview up for me that would be great.

Max: I haven't seen you around Hawkins? Have you moved here or...

Bryce: Yeah my aunt lives here and I'm staying with her for a bit. You'll have to show me around or something.

Max: Yeah I can definitely do that.

Bryce: Cool. Thanks...?

Max: Max.

Bryce: Max. You got a pen and paper?

Max: Um yeah sure.

He wrote down his number next to a cursive 'Bryce :)'.

Bryce: Great. Call me.

He smiled as he looked her in the eyes one last time. He was sweet and handsome, not Max's usual type but the kind of guy from an 80s teen romance film. She smiled back, feeling a slight sensation of butterflies.
