The warm afternoon sunlight, shone through the dusty, old windows of Abraham elementary school. Peeling stickers of smiling animated charters saying things like 'You can do this!'Or 'Never stop trying' clung to those dusty window limply. There shadows impersonating them, but darker, laying on the floor.
Warm, cream colored walls, and a white board that held the previous nights homework.
But the only thing Olivia cared about at that very moment, was the clock. It's little second hand, tik tik, tiking away. Each little tik getting Olivia smith closer to where she wanted to be.
Finally, the second hand touch its destination. Striking the 3 o'clock mark, meaning, school was done.
"Alright! Boys and girls. No homework tonight as it is Friday. I hope you all have an excellent weekend." Mrs. Novalee called to her class. Swinging the door open, and stepping aside to allow clear view into the hallway, crowed with smiling parents.
Olivia smith couldn't hold back her grin. She turned her head slightly to face her best friend, who returned her smile.
Estelle blowfis, and Olivia smith had been best friends longer than either of them could remember. And with that, almost every friday, after their kindergarten day was done, they would go to one another's houses. This week it's was Estelle's turn to host.
And Olivia couldn't have been more excited.
Estelle and Olivia met by their cubby's in the hall. Smiling wildly at each other they made their way into the hallway once more.
Estelle mom sally greeted them, "Hey girls! How was your day?" Sally smiled.
"It was great mama! Ms. Novalee showed us how to count to one hundred. I was really good at it! Ollie too." Estelle beamed, presenting a colored sheet, with numbers, one to a hundred.
Sally gently took the sheet from her daughter. "Very nice." She replied, patting Estelle on the head. Causing her to giggle.
Estelle was dressed in a pink and purple poka-dotted shirt, and a red princess like skirt. She wore bright rubbery rain boots that squeaked as she walked.
Olivia on the other hand, simply wore a pare of overalls, in her hair were a pair pigtails tied with little yellow bows.
Sally smiled to herself as Olivia and Estelle linked hands, and together the three of them ambled forward into the parking lot.
Sally straightened her pale pink blouse, while looking down at her skinny jeans, and gray sweater.
Olivia and Estelle hopped into the back seat of the Jackson family's car, a 2014 baby blue Prius. And as sally climbed into the drivers side, a sudden chime began to seem evident.
Sally's phone was ringing.
The phone kept buzzing until Sally's placed a hand on it, sighing
"Who-? Oh, it's Percy." Sally mumbled.
"Percy!" Estelle squeaked excitedly. Her hands flew up to the driver seat.
"Gimme, gimme" she insisted.
"Estelle" Sally responded, sending her daughter the slightest motherly eyebrow. She folded her hands in her lap.
"Please" Estelle pouted.
"Hello?" Percy's voice crackled over the speaker. "Percy!" Estelle and Olivia grinned, Sally's smiled in the front of the car, both of hands were placed in the wheel, turning.
"So, mom, umm, you sorta told me that we could come over." Percy's mentioned quickly. "Is that still something that's happening or-?"
"Yes!" Estelle cried before Sally's could even respond. "Woah, Stella" Percy laughed in a dull monotone.
