The participants gathered at the forest, waiting for the announcement so the Wendigo House can officially begin.
"Did you know? I heard the Wendigo House used to have the same set of rules, but everyone was stuck in a house. That's probably why it's called the Wendigo House." Jennifer overheard someone talking about the history of the Wendigo House, but she was too busy focusing on how she could escape all this. Why did this all sound so messed up?
"It'll be okay," James comforted Jennifer. Jennifer just sighed. "I know. But there's so many people!! Like, there has to be someone that's claustrophobic here. Which is probably me," Jennifer sounded sour. "That's just your social anxiety kicking in. Don't worry too much 'bout it," James smiled.
"Am I being a pessimest right now?" Jennifer asked. She always asked pointless questions. "Yepp... Don't worry too much about it!" James reassured Jennifer.
"WELCOME TO THE ANNUAL WENDIGO HOUSE. WE APPRECIATE EVERY SINGLE PARTICIPANT THAT JOINED, MAY LUCK AND TIME BE ON YOUR SIDE. GOOD LUCK, TO EVERY PARTICIPANT. NOW, LET THE WENDIGO HOUSE BEGIN!"
Loud speakers blared the announcements into our ears, Jennifer's ears felt like they would break. Soon, people started scattering. Jennifer felt scared.
"Let's go." James motioned Jennifer to scatter like how the other participants did.
James and Jennifer were walking in the forest for a while. This forest had to be the biggest Jennifer had ever laid eyes on. "Do you think Wendigos kill at night?" James asked Jennifer. "Possibly. Most predators like to hunt at night. I just can't wait until the Gathering. I wanna get my ass back to that cozy cabinet," Jennifer whined.
The two suddenly heard shuffling noises. Jennifer stopped. "Did you hear that?" Jennifer asked James. He nodded.
Jennifer's heart was pounding against her chest so badly. She was panicking. "Uhh.." James sounded nervous too.
"What? Like how last time you lost?" A male voice. Not deep, not as high. Light footsteps. "Says you." Another male voice, deeper.
Jennifer nearly jumped, James nearly screamed at the sight. Two men, one tall, one short.
"HOLY-" Jennifer stood straight. Jennifer looked at the two men. There was something off. Really off. Or it's probably just how Jennifer hated tall men. "Uhhh." Jennifer was heavily doubting herself. "Who are you?" James asked. "Well, why would we tell you who we are if we don't know who you are?" The short kid stepped up. The tall man didn't say anything. It was eerily scary how he was that quiet.
"Well uhhh.." Jennifer took a step back. The tall guy leaned on a tree and gave us something like death-glares.
"We can settle this down peacefully." James muttered. "Okay. I'm Jennifer. You?" Jennifer nearly stuttered. She took a step back.
"Ace. That is?" He pointed at James. "His name's James." James was never comfortable talking to strangers, he had a high point of social anxiety sometimes. He's quite talkitive if you get to know him, though.
Jennifer didn't question anything else. She felt unsafe. "What do you want?..." Jennifer asked. "No one's safe here, better to raise up our guard then let random strangers go." Ace scoffed.
