I was parked at the side of an abandon street; no houses, no buildings-

Wait, if you call that old diner up ahead a building... I don't even know if it's up and running.

It was seven in the morning, I usually never wake up this early; but when you're sleeping in a car, that's a different story.

I unbuckled myself and got out to stretch, and am I telling you that felt so good.

I grabbed my water from the cup holder and chugged it down.

Then I picked up the blanket and folded it and placed it in my bag, and threw it into the backseat.

Once I shut the doors I locked up the car, and decided to check out the diner.

'Walking there seemed like a really good idea, try to at least get rid of the numb feeling in my legs.' I thought to myself

It was only a bit further up the street from where I had my car parked.

Once I got there, it didn't look as bad as I had thought.

I walked in and seen that the place was empty.

I walked over to the counter, to order my food.

I couldn't see anybody working though.

"Hello?" I said, but had no reply.

"Helllooo?" I said louder this time.

Finally I heard a high pitched voice, it sounded from out back.

"Coming!" it said and then I heard small footsteps scatter their way towards me.

The girl who was working here ran around the corner and in front of me, wearing a big grin.

Her blond hair was pulled back in a tight ponytail, with a big pink ribbing on the side of her head, she wore huge brown glasses that made her green eyes look gigantic, she also had braces, and looks like a twig in my opinion. She was so skinny and lanky.

"Sorry, we never usually have customers this early." that squeaky voice said again.

I gave a small smile back, and looked above her at the screen that displayed their breakfast menu.

"um, could I get... Pancakes, side dish of fruit, and a coffee." I ordered.

"Sure thing, coming right up!" she said enthusiastically.

I stood waiting for my order, and two men walked in.

"So, you're seriously going to fire mr. Shepard?" One man asked to the other.

He nodded, "Look, John. If you seen how he teaches those kids their English, you would want the same." the other guy told the other one, who is named john.

"I guess Bruce." John said.

They were talking about a school, North side or something like that.

I got my food and began to eat, the two men had their food and was sat two tables away from mine.

I couldn't help but eavesdrop, a new school would be the best thing for me right now, I do want to put my life back together, don't I?

Once I finished eating and put my trash in the garbage, I walked over to then men.

"Hi, I don't mean to be eavesdrop, but I overheard you were talking about a high school?" I asked.

"Yes, my school. I'm the Principal of North Way High School, 'NWHS'." he had said.

"Hi I'm Sean Ryder. I was just wondering, is there anyway you could get me into that school, sir?" I asked.

"I'm Bruce Walker, and yes of course, I can get you in." Bruce said.

"would you just fill these slips out, please." Bruce said, as he took out papers from his briefcase and passed them to me, with a pen.

I started to sign them out.

When I got to the parents signature space.

"um, does your parents need to sign this?" I asked showing him the paper.

"Would that be a problem mr.Ryder?" He asked.

I hesitated for a moment before shaking my head no.

"No, I was just being curious." I said with my voice a little bit off.

Bruce looked at me, and it looked as if he could see right through my lie.

"Well, if thats a problem Sean, don't worry about it." Bruce said, obviously knowing something was up.

I handed him the slip, "I don't think my parents will be around to sign that, sorry." I said shyly.

Bruce nodded and gave me a smile.

"Tomorrow at eight thirty, is when this starts. Here's the directions to get to te school, just in case." Bruce said handing me another sheet.

I smiled and thanked him, then left down the street.

First day of grade 12 tomorrow. I thought to myself
