Alex's Point of View
"Ok, I'm passing out all the gifts. If you miss your name being called, the gifts go to the gift gremlin," Rey says. "Who's the gift gremlin?" I ask. Angie walks over holding Diablo, who is sporting a rather cute looking Doggy Christmas Sweater. "Diablo. He's a little gift gremlin," She says. "Oh aren't you cute my little avocado? Yeah? Are your abuelas spoiling you?" I ask. Diablo yawns at me. "It's our job to spoil the grandbabies," Angie says. "At least he's cute and actually wears them," I say. Rey quickly calls out names and passes gifts to everyone. "I'm glad the family has grown but it's a lot on the back," He says. "Ten thousand years...will give you such a kink in the neck!" I say. "I think I understand what the genie was saying." He says laughing.
"Ok, Parents first, kids last," Dom says. "No, Mijo. We can wait," Angie says. "Nope, you wait every year, our turn. Come on, Mami. Open something," Dom says. "If you insist," She says. Dom and I pitched on his parents gift. We wanted to do something nice for them. Angie opens the gold envelop Dom put it in and looks at it for a minute before smiling. "What is it, Mi Amor?" Rey asks her. "Mami, keep in mind it's two tickets, it's for you and whoever you want to bring, you know...cause you aren't a deadbeat," Dom says. "It's supposed to be a happy time," Rhea and I say at the same time as I tap my boyfriends shoulder. "That's my line," Rhea says. I stick my tongue out at her.
"Well, if i'm such a deadbeat I guess Alex can use your guys' gift alone. She'd probably be happier," Rey says. Dom looks confused. I want to know, but I can wait my turn. "We'll get to it, keep opening your stuff," I say. "To answer your question, Mi amor, our son and his girlfriend are sending us on a week long cruise to Jamaica," Angie says. "Thank you, you guys didn't have to do that," Rey says. "We had to get rid of you somehow," Dom says. "Be nice! Don't listen to your son, he's being a punk," I say. Rey laughs. "When isn't he?" He says. Angie grabs the gift bag that's from me. I got her a candle and a mug.
The candle says, "Thanks For Not Putting My Boyfriend Up For Adoption...I'm Sure That Was Tempting Some Days." The mug says, " Mom, I Love How We Don't Have To Say Out Loud That I'm Your Favorite."
