The Following WednesdayAlex's Point Of View
I woke up to the worst feeling I could feel after such a wonderful week. My period. Well, at least I'm not pregnant. The cramps are brutal today. I get out of bed, careful not to wake Dom up and check the bed. Of course I stained the sheets. Great start to the day. I will take care of it once Dom wakes up, we have color safe bleach that will take it right out and if that for whatever reason doesn't work, I'll use the hydrogen peroxide like I used to when I lived with Abuela. I think I'm going to skip the gym today. Maybe I'll go see Abuela and Mami while Dom is at the gym. I pick out my favorite lounge pants that I wear during these times and a baggy shirt. I took a shower in hopes that it would ease the cramps but not today. I'm used to it, just aggravating. I get ready for the day, dry my hair and walk out of the room to see the bed, new bedding and Dom not sleeping. In fact, Dom's not even in the room.
I walk downstairs and Dom is in the kitchen taking his meds. "Good Morning, Papi," I say, starting the coffee maker. "Good Morning, Princesa. How are you feeling? I already put the sheets in the wash. It was time to switch out for the lighter sheets anyway, those will get hot fast," He says, pulling the stuff out of the fridge to make his protein shake. "Are you coming with me to the gym or are you going to take a very well deserved rest day?" He asks. "I'm going to take a rest day. I think I'm going to head to Abuela's. I feel like I should spend more time with her. I know we have family dinner whenever we are here but I don't know. I don't want my family to think I'm ditching them but I also don't want them to think I'm constantly there. I feel like I'm not balancing enough," I say. Dom finishes putting his ingredients next to the blender and wraps his arms around me. "You are doing a wonderful job, Mi Amor. You make time for your family, my family, me, your dog, our friends and work. You are doing great. I see my family more than I used to and you don't hate me for it. That's all I ask," He says, kissing my forehead. "So you aren't upset? You don't think anyone else is upset?" I ask. "No, we are all very proud of you," He says. I bury my face in his chest. He always knows how to make me feel better.
"If I make your smoothies could you take Diablo out?" I ask. "Si. You make my smoothies better anyway," Dom says, placing both hands on each side of my face and kissing me softly. I want to deepen the kiss but he needs to hit the gym. He goes and brings Diablo outside. While making his protein smoothie I look out the kitchen window. He's playing fetch. Not Diablo. Dom throws it, Diablo runs to where it is, and sits there. Looking at Dom as if to say, "I found it. You threw it, you can come pick it up." Dom shakes his head and ops for a tiny dog tug of war. I finish making his smoothie and move on to make my coffee. Once I'm done I sit at the breakfast bar and wait for Dom to come in.
Dom walks back into the house with Diablo. "He decided that Papi was going to play fetch because he's being too lazy," He says, placing Diablo on the floor. "I saw. He isn't too lazy, he's just sleepy. It's 4am, you know he struggles to wake up like the rest of us," I say in a baby voice, picking Diablo up. "His paws are cold. I can fix that," I say. I pull on the neck of my shirt and put him in my sports bra. He likes to lay there when he is cold. "You can stay there for a little bit but when we go to Abuela's you stick to your seat," I say, kissing his head. "You spoil him and he only gets cuter," Dom says. "You're just jealous you don't get to sleep between the chi chi's and he does," I say. "Mmm, maybe so, but he doesn't get to touch the Chi Chi's like I do," He says. He puts his protein shake in his bottle for the gym and grabs his gym bag.
"I'll meet you at Abuela's when I'm done?" He asks. "Si. Te amo, be safe," I say. "Te Amo, Princesa. I always am," He says. He kisses me and leaves. I finish drinking my coffee, gather everything I'm going to need for myself and Diablo and head to Abuela's house.
Abuela's House
I pull into Abuela's house and it's 10 am. Mami and Abuela are at the grocery store so I'm in the house alone. They don't even know I am here so while I wait I put on Twilight Saga: Eclipse. It's my favorite one because we finally see Jacob's wolf form. Anyway, I'm guessing it's the day they are doing their big grocery shop. Since the pandemic they get most of the stuff they need once a month and in between will get the small things they end up needing throughout the month. Diablo and I are laying on the couch when I hear a car pull into the driveway. I pretend to be asleep when I hear the door unlock. "Is that everything from the car?" Abuela asks Mami. "Yes, Mami. Because suddenly I have like four extra arms. No, the stuff from the bulk store is still in the car," Mami says, walking past me on the couch and putting the groceries on the kitchen table. Abuela walks by me, puts the groceries on the table and walks by. "Mija, you saw her car, but you failed to look for your daughter? What a nice Mami you are!" Abuela says, joking with Mami. She walks to the front on the couch and kisses my forehead. "I know you are not sleeping. Could you help with the heavy stuff?" Abuela asks. I laugh. "I could've been sleeping. But you are right. I'll help," I say, getting up slowly and sliping my chanclas on.
