The room was dark when Rani finally entered it again. He led with the candle that he had brought cautiously crossing the threshold in case the woman decided to attack. He spied her in the bed. She had her back towards him. He swiftly entered and locked the door behind him. He shrugged out of his jacket and hung it in the closet, then he placed something on the back of his chair and then made to light the two lanterns in the corners farthest from where the woman slept. This illuminated that half of the quarters and left the other end dimly lit.
Rani undid his holsters and placed the loaded guns into a drawer, locking it as a means of keeping the woman from accessing them, then placed the candle on the desk. He heard a small sound, soft as the flutter of fabric but he reacted instinctively pulling his sword free and catching the woman in her attempt to come up behind him with his own dagger. With skill he parried her dagger which flew from her hand across the room and out of reach.
She growled at him and ran at the sword on the wall ripping it from its frame and turning towards him ready to fight.
He grinned at her.
"Perra stay." He commanded at the dog who was standing at alert growling at the scene before her. She sat and quieted at his stern command.
"Seniorita, I think you better put that back before you hurt yourself." He said softly.
A small tic in her jaw told him that she was clenching her teeth. She got into a defensive stance with the sword raised.
He chuckled.
She lunged.
He sidestepped her but she stayed on her feet and faced him once more at the ready.
"Very good." He remarked. "But you are at a disadvantage." He said acknowledging her sore shoulder. "I'll make it fair." He said and then sat in his desk chair, lifting one of his legs and resting it on the other knee then leaned back in a relaxed position. He raised his sword and beckoned her forward, one eyebrow lifting in amusement.
Danielle tightened her hold on the hilt of the sword and swung down toward him. It was met with his sword blocking. She kept up the offensive attacks and he continued to thwart all of her attempts with ease.
She had been trained in fencing since she was 5 years old but the sword blade was bigger and heavier than her sabre and she found herself feeling unbalanced while trying to wield it.
He on the other hand was very skilled. Although she was not accustomed to this particular sword type her technique was flawless and should still be enough to put him to shame. She was a champion fencer after all.
But he was better. She needed to resort to other means of getting him to falter under her attacks.
Before executing her next move she swiped at the table top and a flurry of papers came at his face momentarily blocking his line of sight and giving her the opportunity to swing the sword back and come down on him.
The chair legs screeched scraping and sliding from under Rani as he shot out of it bringing his sword upwards to defend against hers with another loud clang. They both stood with their swords crossed and touching above their heads. He had an arm around her holding her tightly into his body and they were staring into each others eyes, he a head taller than hers. Her nostrils flared and her chest heaved with her labored breath.
He could the see the fire in her eyes and he met that fire with some of his own as his black eyes bore into hers. Then he did something that she did not expect.
He moved his head forward and his lips pressed into her lips and at first she just stood frozen. But then her eyes closed and her head tilted. He needed no more invitation than that. His sword hand moved quickly as he angled his hand so that he could grab the hilt of her sword and pull it free of her now loose grasp. With 2 swords in one hand he thrust them point downward until they both embedded themselves into the wooden floorboards, all while never taking his lips off of hers.
With his now free hand he brought it around her and ran it up her back giving her chills. Meanwhile, her freed sword hand had come down to behind his neck where her fingers laced into his hair, her other hand was on his hip. He led her to his now cleared table and his hands found their way to her hips and then lower to her thighs before sliding behind her thighs and below the curve of her butt. He lifted her easily up until she sat on to the desk with him between her legs.
He sighed and she moaned as his soft lips opened and his tongue gently tasted her lips, a silent urging for her to respond in like.
Her brain wasn't working now, but her body seemed in full swing. For some reason she could not stop responding. It was like he knew exactly where to touch her to get a reaction he wanted. He was reading her body as if he had already mastered it, kneading her thighs in a soothing and sensual way. His soft lips angling over hers over and over until she opened and allowed his tongue into her mouth.
Her tongue curiously slid along his, tasting him back in turn. He moaned in pleasure and it undid her, her enthusiasm rising with his. She pulled on his tucked shirt, trying to get it free and off of him. He wouldn't let her as she felt a tug at her hair force her head back. She had never felt that before, but she liked it.
There was a growing need deep inside of her that she had never felt before for anyone. He took her lower lip between his teeth gently nibbling and then released it from his teeth but used his tongue to run across it slow and deliberately. Then he sucked on it. Areas were aching that had never ached before. He ran soft kisses along her jaw and then down her neck. But he was slowing down, his insistence wavering.
He brought his head up so that their foreheads touched. His eyes were closed and he looked as if he were trying to slow his heart rate. And then he pulled back and looked at her. She looked back, eyes hooded from his all too brief assault on her senses.
He stepped back and slowly he pulled his hands away from her. But he looked regretful.
"I'm sorry seniorita."
Her senses were returning to her. And her eyebrows furrowed. Was he rejecting her?
"You should rest." He said.
"Rest?" She said. Anger filled her again. She felt rejected, and she also now felt the sting of knowing that she had lost to him. She looked at the 2 swords sticking out of the floor where he had embedded them.
Noticing her gaze he went to unstuck the weapons standing out of her reach.
She narrowed her eyes. All of this was a ploy to get her unarmed. He had completely rendered her defenseless and she had walked right into his distraction without a fight. It was all a trick. She jumped down off the table and straightened her gown stalking over to the bed and sat on the side.
He grabbed the dagger where it had fallen and replaced both weapons to the frame.
"Tomorrow we will be setting sail again. Once we are out to sea I will escort you outside for some fresh air. It's late now, you really must get some rest and allow your shoulder to heal." He said sitting back on his chair and then looking at her.
She continued to look at him through narrow eyes.
"Sleep Danielle. I will not tell you again." He commanded.
She gave him a fake smile and lifted her hand to flip him the bird. He chuckled and then turned towards his desk. She was tired. She scooted herself into the bed all the way to the back trying to put herself as far out of his view as possible, and facing her back towards the opening just in case he decided to come and check on her. She fell asleep angry because she could still feel the tingle of his kiss on her lips.
