    Mr. Birch, having made the difficult decision to create professional distance, called Arya to his office. As she entered, he couldn't help but feel a pang of regret for what he was about to say.
    MR. BIRCH 
    (Serious) 
    Arya, please have a seat. We need to talk.
    ARYA 
    (Cautious) 
    Is something wrong, Mr. Birch?
    MR. BIRCH 
    (Sighs) 
    It's about us, Arya. I need to be honest with you.
    Arya took a seat, her eyes fixed on him, a mix of curiosity and concern on her face.
    MR. BIRCH 
    (Sincere) 
    I have to confess something. Something that is not easy. Yesterday, seeing you with another student, it made me realize the potential complications of our connection. I have developed feelings for you beyond that of a mentor. Inappropriate feelings. 
    ARYA 
    (Stunned) 
    I... I didn't expect that.
    MR. BIRCH 
    (Nods) 
    It's complicated, Arya. And it's not fair to you. I can't be your mentor anymore. We'll find another professor for you, someone who can guide you without any personal entanglements.
    ARYA 
    (Quietly) 
    But I value your guidance.
    MR. BIRCH 
    (Continues) 
    I know, Arya. But it's necessary. I've also decided to keep my distance. Even more than I do now. It's for the best, given the circumstances.
    Arya listened in silence, processing the weight of his words. After a short pause, she stood up, leaving Mr. Birch feeling a sense of unexpected hurt. Thinking she is leaving without a proper response, he turns his head away, feeling ashamed that it came to this point.
    MR. BIRCH 
    (Quietly) 
    I understand if you want to change lectures. I'll support whatever decision you make.
    Arya walked to the door. But instead of opening and leaving, she locked it, a determined expression on her face. She turned back to him, her ponytail coming loose as she walked slowly towards him.
    ARYA 
    (With resolve)
