Betrayal

Arriving into this poisonous world,
Fighting ghosts that haunt you even after your victory,
Alone.... solitude is a burden,
Until finally one day my eyes land on you and,

That sunshine they promised,
That warmth they promised,
That joy and positivity that was promised shows itself.

Oh how wonderful it seems, pure energy that can make anything possible.
A forbidden magic that intoxicates one's soul.
Days become lighter, brighter,
Pain, sorrow, dissolve,
Life full of laughter
Life reinforced with new resolve.

A promise to meet, a promise unasked for - yet bestowed, a life to be with me you vowed.

Sharper than electricity slicing through me, the truth of your betrayal slammed through me.
Your smile fake, your words a lie, your actions a ploy, with my heart you toy.

Evil sniggers, depression triggers,
Faster than the speed of light, I fall deeper into an abyss of loneliness once more, face marred with shame and betrayal.
An open chasm in my chest, bleeding ceaselessly, ears ringing with shrieks of haunted laughter.....

If only I could go back and never meet you, if only instead I was blessed with an unfeeling, emotionless body, blind to your existence, deaf to your promises.

Love is ephemeral, a greater good shall always be picked, not you.

I was loyal to you and yet you showed me betrayal.......
