Iris was currently working on a scathing article that would expose how the Central City Public school district had expelled a girl just because she was a meta, which was a form of discrimination, especially since she knew that her mom was working on a lawsuit for that exact same thing, since Allegra had been unfairly expelled from Central City High.
She was nearly finished when suddenly, she felt her totem suddenly start glowing, like it was becoming active on its own.
"What's going on?" Iris asked, since while her studies to become the Celestial had told her about instances where the totem acted like this, but she'd never experienced it before. But what she did know was that it only became active like this when it sensed an evil presence nearby.
"Well, well, if it isn't the one who got away." a familiar voice that brought pure rage to Iris's mind as she looked up to see her former commanding officer Cyrus McAdams standing there.
"You son of a bitch." Iris said, reaching for her gun and resisting the urge to skip the gun and go straight for her totem.
"What, can't I drop in on an old friend?" McAdams asked her with a smile that fooled no one.
"Yeah right. I'm sure you considered us friends when you sold out my entire unit to the enemy and let us go into a slaughter. I'm surprised you're here and not in military prison for treason." Iris snapped and McAdams dropped his friendly facade, since he knew that Iris wouldn't buy it anyways.
"You didn't belong in the military. At least not like that. People like you are good for one thing and one thing only. Target practice for the real soldiers. I was just putting your unit to proper use." McAdams said and Iris was so mad she dropped her gun and lunged at him, tackling him to the ground.
"You son of a bitch." Iris snapped as she began punching him, not bothering to go for weapons, only to have McAdams kick her in the gut to get her off him.
"I thought that you'd fight fair, not attack me like that." McAdams said, though he was clearly happy to have gotten under her skin.
"I should kill you right now." Iris said, hatred unlike anything she'd ever felt before coursing through her and she finally understood the hatred her fiance carried for Thawne in a way she hadn't before, since now she hated someone almost as much as Barry hated the Reverse Flash.
"Try it. Let's do this the way we did in training. Now guns or toys, just our fists." McAdams said.
"Gladly. I've been wanting to do this for years." Iris said as she punched Cyrus again as they continued exchanging blows.
"That makes two of us." Cyrus agreed, right as Iris sucker punched him.
The further into the fight that they got, the better things looked for Iris and since he was a wanted man already, McAdams knew that he needed to do something to turn the tide quickly and honestly, he'd been wanting to do this for a while.
"Okay West, let's crank this up a notch." McAdams said, to Iris's confusion.
"What are you talking about?" Iris asked, as McAdams held out his hand and an ax suddenly flew into it and now Iris knew why her totem had been acting up, since it had been sensing its counterpart.
"You have the hell totem. You know who I am." Iris said as she watched the totem transform McAdams into Brimstone.
"I do. And you can call me Brimstone for the remainder of your life, which won't be much." Brimstone said as he brought his ax down and unleashed a plume of fire in the building that Iris barely managed to dodge.
"So that's how you want to play huh. Fine. Hell, get ready to meet heaven." Iris said as she used her own totem to turn into Celestial, complete with unfurled wings.
"Let's take this outside." Celestial said as she unleashed a blast of angelic energy from her wings that knocked Brimstone out into the street.
"Too scared to fight me here on the ground?" he called out to her as he watched Celestial fly over him.
"No, I just didn't think you'd want to face me like that." Celestial said as she used her totem to form a sword of pure celestial energy that hardened into an intricate sword that matched the color scheme of her costume.
"You really think a sword will do anything against my ax?" Brimstone asked as Celestial landed and readied her weapon.
"I think you put too much faith in that hunk of stone. It's making you even more deranged." Celestial said as she lunged at him, her sword clashing against his ax, releasing a pulse of red and blue energy that knocked them both back and created a small crater in the ground.
Just as Brimstone was about to charge at her again, he was knocked back by a streak of golden lightning as the Flash sped into the area and a breach opened up with Vibe, Frost and Elongated Man jumping out of it.
"What are you doing here, this is my fight?" Celestial asked.
"Like you'd let me fight Thawne alone?" Flash pointed out.
"Besides, this fight is doing more harm than good." Frost pointed out as she went to put out all the fires in Iris's office.
"I'll destroy you all." Brimstone roared, raising his ax, only to vanish in a streak of red lightning.
"Looks like he's not working alone." Flash said and before anyone could stop him, he sped off in the direction the red streak had gone off in.
