oOo
A few days later, Elizabeth came to the office a bit earlier than her normal routine. She was avoiding Severus when he kept asking her out. It was strange to see him like that. In the past, it would be her who would follow him around but now it was the opposite. And the scariest thing was he showed his soft side to her where he would ask about her life, hobbies, etc. Knowing what he was capable of in the past, she would not be fooled. Thus, she chose to make a different round to stay away from him.
Elizabeth sat down in her chair as she looked over her works for the day. Lucius would not be in until eight, so she had like two hours to organize all the paperwork before they began their regular process. The office was always quiet this early hour, making a great place to sooth her mind. She hummed a familiar tune which she could not remember where it was from. However, she did not notice a shadow was standing not far away from the office door.
Severus watched the girl as she worked. He had tried to seek her out a couple times but she kept a good way to avoid him. He could not explain his sudden attraction to the girl. He had thought it was one of those girls' tricks to get the boys' attention but she did not seem to fall in that category. Like Lucius, Severus did not pass the chance to invade the young girl's mind when he had the opportunity, and his old friend was right, she was naïve. Sometimes, he wondered if she was in her right mind or not. Her plans were too simple and childish, and they made him laugh whenever he remembered it. However, when he tried to look into her mind again, only the darkness returned. At first, he thought she used Occlumency, but he clearly knew the girl had no such thing in her mind. So, he was surprised to see nothing in her mind as he tried to search around. And it bothered him.
The song, her humming tune, made him smile softly. It was an old Muggle song he used to listen to in his neighborhood, which he had not heard for some time. He did not expect that she knew the song too and could hum it beautifully. His eyes fixed on her again, watching every move she made. He did not realize how attractive she was. Not strikingly beautiful but she had something that would make him smile just to see her move around in such a pleasant sight.
Faint footsteps began to approach from afar, knocking Severus out of his focus. He quickly took a step back and hid himself into the shadow of the corner, watching whoever was coming this way.
Lucius spent nights searching about what happened in Elizabeth's flat. Compatible magic was not something new in the Magical world, actually it was a blessing if a couple's magic would blend and emerge into one. Some magic could even go higher and deeper, known as soulmate magic. However, soulmate magic was rather rarer than compatible magic. It was like one out of a thousand to find a soulmate. Lucius knew this well because he and Narcissa had that small connection of compatible magic. However, the thing he experienced with Elizabeth was completely different. He had a wild guest but he needed information to back up his theory, so he went through his library and gathered almost everything about soulmate magic.
"Liz!" Lucius sounded too happy to both Elizabeth and Severus.
"You... you're early today," Elizabeth was surprised to see Lucius waltzed in with a big smile on his face. "Did something happen?"
"What?" Lucius looked confused at her question for a second but then soon realized his odd expression must have scared the girl. "Ah! Remember about the thing that happened at your flat?"
She nodded, remembering well about their magic entwined strangely with each other. His hand reached out and grabbed her arm as he pulled her closer to him. "Come," he said softly. "Let me show you the books. It's better when you listen to my explanation and have these on hand."
