Adrien's POV

~Flashback~

After I had finished with the patrol, I returned to my house.

Not gonna lie. What happened back there was really weird.

'Why was Ladybug so mad at Rena? She wouldn't even utter a word to her. Did they have a fight or something? I guess they will solve it soon, though. Right now, I just hope that Marinette will regain her memories and be friends with us again.'

"Plagg, do you think Marinette will regain her memories soon?"

"I don't know, kid. But she will sooner or later. Didn't the doctor say that she will remember?"

I sighed and continued, "Yes, he did."

'Marinette is a really good girl, and Lila is manipulating her without a reason. What does she even want from her?'

~Present~

The days went by, and it's been two weeks since then. I was wrong. About both Marinette and Ladybug. Ladybug wouldn't talk to Rena, and Marinette wouldn't talk to us, which got me thinking about the theory of Marinette and Ladybug being the same person. She even distanced herself from her parents and got closer with Lila. That girl is really getting on my nerves. Why wouldn't she just leave her alone?

The worst part was that we couldn't do anything about it. She wouldn't talk to us, not even her parents. So what were we supposed to do?

It was evident that everything we did was in vain. We had to show Marinette what kind of a pathological liar Lila was and that she manipulated her. Maybe we could ask the principal for some records from the CCTV cameras? But that probably wasn't really legal. He, of course, could not give something so important to fifteen year-old students like us.

Sighing sadly, an act that had become a habit over the days, I got ready to head to school. Just to see the same things I saw every day.

Once I came out of my car and closed the door, Nino was already walking over to me.

"Hey, Nino."

"Hey. I have news. Which ones do you want to hear first."

"Uh, everyone starts from the bad, so go ahead, I guess."

"You won't like it. Remember when the principal expelled Lila a year ago because of what happened?"

I groaned in annoyance at  the memory of her. "Please don't remind me of her."

"Too bad then. We will have to see her every day now."

I paused, not quite willing to accept what I thought he meant by that. "Wait, what?"

"I mean all the school days. I hope we won't encounter her somewhere at the weekends too."

"Wait, wait, wait. What do you mean we will have to see her every day now?"

"He expelled her for a year only. So now, she will be able to come back to school. And what's worse, she will be in our class... again. Yay." He raised his fisted hand and remarked sarcastically.

'So, it had been a year, huh? Time passes fast, I guess... Only if we had evidence to get her arrested, I would report her immediately...'

"She has to come today, doesn't she?" I rolled my eyes, just thinking at her, sitting in the back, probably dragging Marinette with her as well.

"Yep! How else will she play the 'good friend' to Marinette?" He air quoted with his fingers.

I groaned once more and indicated him to go to the class with me.

'This was going to be a really hard day for everyone here today. I can already imagine Lila lying to everyone about how many trips she has gone all over the world and how she has met many celebrities. Probably half of the school has already forgotten about her, so some of them may even believe her.'

Just like I thought, a group of students was circled around Lila, with Marinette right beside her. It genuinely hurt me to see her befriending the person who has hurt her so much.

I just averted my eyes when she caught a glimpse of me. But I could see when she wispered something to Marinette, making her look at me and Nino with a frown.

When we reached the class, everyone was uncomfortably quiet. Like, way too much. Even Chloe, who would usually be the first one to complain about Lila for something like that. Looks like everyone had learned the news by now and were even more distressed than they usually were.

All that with Lila and Marinette had truly affected everyone to the highest lever.

Exactly a couple of minutes later, the two girls came in the class. I caught a few words Marinette said to Lila. Like how happy she was that she came to the same class as her and she wouldn't be alone anymore. She wasn't alone. She just didn't know that.

I also heard her say something about hanging out after school. Great. Their bond is getting stronger. Just great. Nothing could be better. We needed to do something. When we found out what, we needed to work on that. And quickly.

On the break, we tried to get Marinette to talk to us. We wanted to talk to her about Lila, but if she came with her, we couldn't tell her anything. But she just wouldn't listen. We couldn't talk to her with Lila by her side, much less without her.

"Mari, please, just for two minutes!"

"I don't want to listen to anything you have to say!"

"Can you at least tell us what Lila told you to believe her so much?"

At that question, she just rolled her eyes and answered. "You know what." If you can call that an answer.

We were all hopeless now... but we wouldn't give up so easily. Lila can try, but we will get Marinette back. I sworn to myself we would.
